What Guests Are Saying
Azalea Campground offers a beautiful and spacious setting, ideally located near Grant Grove and various hiking trails, including those to the General Sherman Tree. The campground is well-maintained, featuring clean restrooms, fresh water, and friendly park staff, contributing to a peaceful and relaxing experience. While some sites may be uneven and restrooms are a bit distant for some, the overall atmosphere, wildlife sightings, and access to nature make it a memorable destination.

Large campground with sites close together with no undergrowth for privacy. Old bathrooms with only one or two stalls each. There is NO bathroom at all in the tent loop of the campground. The location - inside the park - is the main attraction to this campground.

campsite was a bit flooded and bathrooms are inconvenient without showers which prevents the highest ratings but being able to book day of or a couple days before and location make this campsite worth visiting regardless

I couldn't understand why there were so few campers in late May, until a ranger noted that this place could have very possibly been closed due to snow at this point, and they don't have all summer staff in place yet. Turns out we were very lucky to be here at all! Many of the sites have parking pads on inclines, some rather severe; read the fine print before booking! Also, this is the first time we've camped in a small camper van; we put up the pop-up for additional room sleeping, I was really looking forward to this feature. But Azalea is at 6500' and it was FREEZING that night, and that big tent on top just sucks the cold air in; I finally climbed back down and shut it. Read the fine print about campground ELEVATION, if you can find it! Just a charming campground overall!
