Great place to explore King's Canyon. It was not very crowded when we were there and felt very private. Lots of giant trees. Deer came by regularly. We took our bicycles to the trailheads.

OK campground. The location is good being within walking distance to the General Grant Tree and an easy bike ride to the visitor center and market. Many sites are on a slope and some days there was quite a bit of noise from the group sites.

Ranger weren’t available at 6 pm when we need them to make other campers follow the rules of no noise outside their own place. There was a lot of loud music on that night and a loudly talking the second night from this big group.
We can’t understand how you go to those beautiful places to get rid of the noises in the big cities and found this loud music bothering the peace of the woods.
The place was very nice and the rest of things were so good.

Since I had to make my reservation at the last minute (Had reservations at Sequoia which closed) I took what I could get but the following could have been addressed.
Is there a campground host?
The first 3 nights I had neighbors who were noisy until late. How is that supposed to be regulated?
The description of the campsite did NOT state that there was a substantial pitch to it which caused the table so slant downhill.
Bathrooms very clean and well supplied

Great Campground. Sites require quite a bit of leveling. Can be noisy, especially on weekends, when people come for a get away/party weekend rather than a quite time in the mountains when the respect early morning hikers.

Great secluded campground in an excellent location. My spot was right next to the meadow and there were plenty of deer frolicking around to make it a unique experience!

Did its job in terms of tent camping. Booked Site #32, the site wasn't terrible, but at the same time, wasn't great. Site was more on the sloped side. No real shade, restrooms and trashcans quite the walk away (downhill then uphill). Unfortunately, campfires were no allowed the weekend we went due to some local fires.

The campground was small, compared to nearby campgrounds, which kept it quieter overall. Each site was moderately spacious, and ours overlooked a meadow with deer that moved through it. Shade trees were much appreciated.

We loved forest bathing in the midst of the grand beautiful trees. The Forest Ranger at the Kings Canyon Station helped me to log in and get our campsite! It was super easy with his help. The campsite was very nice and clean. We had a delightful time and am looking forward to returning next month!!

Tire Chains may be required at any time. Be prepared at any time of year for a wide range of temperatures and weather conditions. Check Road Conditions at nps.gov/seki. Vehicles longer than 22 feet (including trailers) are not advised between Potwisha Campground and the Giant Forest Museum. Dangerous Rivers! Many drowning victims were playing near rivers. Rivers present a far greater danger than lakes or pools. Surfaces may look calm, but strong currents often run below. Be cautious walking near rivers as rocks can be slippery. Getting out of a cold, swift river is often impossible. Falling Objects- Don't linger under dead, cracked, or broken branches. Run if you hear cracks or snapping from tree roots, trunks, or branches (know that sometimes there is no sound, and very little time to react). Report falling branches or trees to a ranger. A California state fishing license is required to fish in Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks, and Sequoia National Forest lakes and streams. Fishing licenses may be available at National Park and National Forest markets. |
