I could not visit the campsite as the roads to the campground were barricaded and said ROAD FAILURE, but the campsite had neither notified rec.gov nor did rec.gov tell us. The campsite is unresponsive and located in an area to which the roads are extremely winding. Additionally, I paid for this campsite and am not getting a refund upon no usage. Unprofessional and poor customer service.

Love this campground!! It was our first time in Kings Canyon and we booked site 3 for three nights. You can definitely hear people at other sites but that’s like most campgrounds I’ve stayed at in my life so it wasn’t a huge problem to us. We had a level area to pitch our tent which was nice (saw other tents at a large angle), the trees were beautiful, and we got a great view of the stars and Milky Way which was so cool!

We loved staying at Crystal Springs Campground! To ensure you do get a good site, one that is not too close to others or near restrooms, I would suggest to download the campground map to check out the spacing. We also searched this campground on YouTube to see the leveling and amount of shading of each site (my #1 recommendation!!), it helped a lot, it truly did make all the difference!! There is only one men/one women restroom with 3 stalls each, it was never crowded or too busy, but it's good to have that in mind. Rangers were friendly and regularly did check-ins, which was nice because it kept the place in order and quiet. You are within 2 driving minutes of the Grant Grove Visitor Center and Market, a HUGE advantage! Also very close to the Grant Tree Trail :) We didn't see any bears, only deer everywhere lol Hope this helps!! Enjoy your exploration!!

Gorgeous campsite close to Grant village for basic amenities, but a world away when you are there. We had site 30. It was fairly close to 29 and 31, but if you rented all three, it would be a great triple site combo. One drawback, at least on the weekend we were there, was there were several individual campsites clearly over the limit of the number of people/cars/tents that were allowed and this was not addressed by the ranger. One site had at least 6 tents on it. I'm not there to ruin anyone's time, but there are group sites for a reason.

Camp spot was extremely un-level. There was no instructions upon entering-it wasn’t until much later in the day that the ranger came by and I requested a map and info about the camp spot.
Won’t camp here again.

Beautiful campsite, more remote than other campsites. Very scenic with large giant trees surrounding the campsite. I would stay here again.

Great campground! Close to all the major points of interest. Could use more bathrooms. They should consider installing showers.

This campsite is very nice and pretty quiet for the most part. You are pretty close to the bathroom/dish washing sink so there are pros and cons with that, but bathrooms are stocked and flush toilets. This site is very shady. There are two trees at the beginning of the parking spot so a trailer may not fit (like a previous comment mentioned.) The site is not very flat but we found a spot near the car parking spot. There was no host but a park ranger drives in the am through the campground. You are also literally across the street from General Grant Tree and close to the visitor center and the market that closes at 9pm. T-Mobile coverage was none existent but Verizon had 3 bars.

Tire Chains may be required at any time. Be prepared at any time of year for a wide range of temperatures and weather conditions. Check Road Conditions at nps.gov/seki. Vehicles longer than 22 feet (including trailers) are not advised between Potwisha Campground and the Giant Forest Museum. Dangerous Rivers! Many drowning victims were playing near rivers. Rivers present a far greater danger than lakes or pools. Surfaces may look calm, but strong currents often run below. Be cautious walking near rivers as rocks can be slippery. Getting out of a cold, swift river is often impossible. Falling Objects- Don't linger under dead, cracked, or broken branches. Run if you hear cracks or snapping from tree roots, trunks, or branches (know that sometimes there is no sound, and very little time to react). Report falling branches or trees to a ranger. A California state fishing license is required to fish in Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks, and Sequoia National Forest lakes and streams. Fishing licenses may be available at National Park and National Forest markets. |
