Very quiet and well spaced sites.

Great campground. Bathrooms were clean, Bear lockers were large enough to fit our tall cooler, and the rules regarding food storage, trash disposal, and grey water dumping were very clear. Other campers were quiet and respectful (and very tolerant of our extremely friendly 5-year-old).

Got a nice shaded spot. Most of the camp sites are not shaded.

Uneven tent area, too many bees and noisy campers after 10 pm..

Lucked out on a flat site away from the bathroom and the larger group areas so enjoyed relative quiet (no shade to everyone having fun though!) Love that this is a fun and safe space for families to come and enjoy nature.

Crystal Springs is a lovely camp ground that is walking distance to the Sequoia Visitors Center. The camp ground has clean bathrooms and potable running water. We were in campsite 28 and slept beneath several beautiful redwood trees. The campsite adjacent to us, number 29, was less sheltered than ours. It was unoccupied during our visit so we were not disturbed at all by neighbors during our stay.
You should know that there is a campfire ash disposal bin adjacent to site 29. Our campsite and many of the other campsites in the immediate vicinity experienced heavy smoke and ash fallout when one camper dumped his smoldering campfire debris. Also both RVs and tent campers can reserve campsites in this campground so there is the sound of RV activity including generators.
Lastly, the main road to the Kings Canyon section of the park is nearby so occasionally there is some truck or RV engine noise that disturbs the quiet, but overall it is a fairly quiet location.

I was camping in site 14 at Crystal Springs. If you are camping with a trailer, you need to know you will be backing up between two trees. Not much room for error. My trailer is only 12’. Any longer, and my truck would have been sticking out in the road. Also, there is not an actual flat area in the camp. It should also be noted, the driveway isn’t flat either.

We were in site #2 which is isolated from most of the rest of the campground loop. The parking spot is shared with sites 1 and 3, and is quite limited (no space for any extra vehicles). The campsite is in a beautiful setting with a forest on one side and meadow on the other. The problem is the restroom situation. There is only one ancient restroom for the entire section of the campground, and it is an unusually long walk from site #2. There are no accessible toilets, and it is a steep walk from all directions.

Tire Chains may be required at any time. Be prepared at any time of year for a wide range of temperatures and weather conditions. Check Road Conditions at nps.gov/seki. Vehicles longer than 22 feet (including trailers) are not advised between Potwisha Campground and the Giant Forest Museum. Dangerous Rivers! Many drowning victims were playing near rivers. Rivers present a far greater danger than lakes or pools. Surfaces may look calm, but strong currents often run below. Be cautious walking near rivers as rocks can be slippery. Getting out of a cold, swift river is often impossible. Falling Objects- Don't linger under dead, cracked, or broken branches. Run if you hear cracks or snapping from tree roots, trunks, or branches (know that sometimes there is no sound, and very little time to react). Report falling branches or trees to a ranger. A California state fishing license is required to fish in Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks, and Sequoia National Forest lakes and streams. Fishing licenses may be available at National Park and National Forest markets. |
