What Guests Are Saying
Granite Flat campground is praised for its beautiful location near the Truckee River, clean facilities, and friendly camp hosts, making it a popular choice for annual visits. Many campers appreciate the easy access to outdoor activities like biking and floating, and the well-maintained restrooms add to the positive experience. However, road noise from nearby Highway 89 is a common concern, particularly at night, which can detract from the overall tranquility of the site.

Okay first off if you are staying in a tent you need to know this campsite is literally like 50ft away from hwy 89, and there is consistently traffic too and from the lake day and night. I would say this is more suitable for an RV or sleeping van/vehicle rather than a tent. Many of the campsites here don’t have immediate access to the river unless the river side site across is empty. Honestly this was my first time camping here and personally I won’t be back. Perhaps this type of site may suite someone else’s camping style better, but for me I prefer a little more space between my tent and a major thoroughfare.

Convenient camping spot just outside Truckee for that quick getaway that's still close to nature. Easy access to the river and most spots have shade. There is road noise but it is right next to Highway 89 so I call that a plus and a minus.

We stayed at site 63 with our 24’ trailer. We chose this because it was a “pull through” site although it just meant we parked the trailer on the road next to the site. It was a large site, nicely spaced out from the other sites, right on the river and with plenty of space at the site! Our kids loved throwing rocks in the water and attempting to fish. I would say it’s location was the best part. We rafted on the Truckee river and went to King’s Beach. We even got take out one night. You could here the highway noise, but I think the benefits of staying here outweighed the noise. I would recommend to other campers!

Campground is right on the freeway. Most of the campsites are very small. If you’re camping with dogs, children, or a decent size group of people, get a spot closest to the river. Easy night trip, wouldn’t do an extended weekend trip here.

Beautiful campsite, as it is right next to the river. Also, It is nice how close it is to the highway, as it is easy to access, and a shopping center is nearby for any needed supplies. However, it's close proximity to a relatively busy road makes for almost non-stop car noise. It is not that big of a deal, especially if you are a deep sleeper, as the noise is partially drowned out by the pleasant sound of the river's running water.

Super clean space where we stayed on number 13 and the water and bathroom next door to the campground, always quiet mostly guests had RV’s. I would call here again. Does get really hot around 8am because this space doesn’t have shade where the bench and food container box was so the ice in the cheat melted quickly but very quiet campground.

We have been camping here at Granite Flats campground for over 20 years. It never disappoints. We stay 10-12 days and love every moment. We raft down the river over & over right in front of the campground, cycle along the Truckee river all the way up to Tahoe City, dirt bike and horseback ride at Piping Rock equestrian center. We love Truckee and our boys have grown up coming here. I hope they continue to come someday with their families.

site #50/52 was great. we had 3 tents set up and can even fit one more. we liked that there’s a trail on the other side you can walk thru to see truckee river. and a mini sand beach to hangout and have a swim. the restrooms was pretty clean. I did read some reviews and they right (ha) it is pretty close to hwy 89 and the cars were just too loud. it’s better if you camp close by the river or own an RV …

Great campground that is very easily accessible. Matter of fact what kept it from the next star up was that this is right along a busy road. Our site was furthest away from the road and didn’t bother us at all. Some sites are along the little river that runs alongside the camp. No hook ups. Cell coverage is fine. We just did an overnight traveling through, but if you are a rafter or hiker, this could be a nice launching point.
