Peltier Bridge Primitive Campground offers a beautiful setting near Clear Creek, with several sites providing easy access to hiking and swimming opportunities. Most sites are well-maintained and provide a peaceful, private camping experience, although some have issues with trash and restroom cleanliness. Overall, it's a great choice for last-minute camping trips, especially for those seeking tranquility and nature.

Surprised this campground was full, but everyone was quiet, the nearest neighbors were out most of the day. The road down was one lane and looked very hard to backup or pull over, luckily I did not have to try. I drove through the area North of Redding on my way home it looked greener, I would try that if I come this way again. I did have a reservation for Castle Craig, but decided to drive home instead, having seen everything in Redding that I wanted and having hiked castle Craig long ago.
A group was doing some sort of training there, so I had to park where people would walk down, part way in if I remember. Luckily they moved one of their cars and I was able to park permanently near my site. Still a carry for all the stuff I had, wanted to remove most while I was in Redding.
Bear Box had a good design, in that you had to use a "key" to open. But it was noisy fitting it in, and another step in opening and closing to and from car (and opening and closing it.
Turtle bay in Redding was a bit over rated by AAA (gem?).

Campground is well-maintained and has cell service. Sections of the road leading to it are scary — it’s a narrow, unpaved road with some potholes and a steep drop to the side. Fortunately it’s pretty short, and the small size of the campground means it’s unlikely you’ll encounter other campers on that road.

Loved this campground, so peaceful and relaxing. Clean vault toilets. Close to great hiking trails. There are two trails to waterfalls nearby and hot showers at the marina for $2-3 !!!

MY overall experience staying at Peltier Bridge campground was good. The area is interesting and has a lot to offer. In my case, camping in close proximity to mountain bike trails was the goal and Peltier Bridge met that goal. I've stayed here 3 times and each time there are "squatters" who ignore the reservation system and show up late, grab a camp and then leave the next morning. I wish there was a system in place to prevent this from happening!

I made a reservation a couple of hours prior entering the park and when I got there it was closed due to a wildfire. I suppose there was no time to program the system to stop accepting reservations. So, since I was just trying to get some quiet sleep on my trip from Oregon to Arizona, I used a table at the visitors center as a bed, but it was not comfortable or quiet.

Great spot. Just myself and another couple people, had the whole campground to ourselves. Vault toilets were quite ripe. Other than that it was awesome.
