About North Pines Campground

For the 2026 season, North Pines campground will utilize a one-time Early Access Lottery which allows successful applicants to make a reservation within the entire 2026 season. Additional information may be found on Yosemite’s website.  Any remaining availability will be released during normal on-sale dates beginning with the February 15 on-sale.When not on a lottery, campsites at North Pines are available up to five months in advance on the 15th of each month at 7:00 a.m. (PT). For example, on February 15, arrival dates for the time period June 15 to July 14 become available to reserve, and therefore, the full arrival date window would be from season opening to July 14. North Pines Campground is located in breathtaking Yosemite National Park in Central California's rugged Sierra Nevada Mountain Range at an elevation of 4000 feet. The site is situated in the heart of Yosemite Valley, an awe-inspiring landscape containing many of the famous features for which Yosemite National Park is known. Within Yosemite, visitors can gaze upon waterfalls, sheer granite cliffs, deep valleys, grand meadows, ancient giant sequoias, vast wilderness areas and so much more.Reservation tips! Campsites in Yosemite are extremely popular and typically sell out in minutes on the regular on-sale dates. Login to your account or create a new account before the 7:00 a.m. (PST) release time. You may only add reservations to your cart and proceed with your reservation if you are logged into your account. Had an incredible time, the waterfalls were raging after a record winter snowfall. Love every visit to this great place! Looking forward to my next visit!

Great location, nice access to the river. Close, but not too close, to water and bathrooms. A little rocky so there’s just a few spots to put up the tent. Great hammock trees.

It was so amazing to see the river and falls so full of water. The campground was not full, the restrooms were clean. It was apsolutely a perfect Yosemite Valley experience. The only problem is that we were not able to stay longer.

The backpackers campground was closed from the North Pines Campground entrance because of Tenaya Creek footbridge was closed due to flooding. This meant my group and I had to walk all the way around on a detour. What should have been a 7 minute walk became a 30 minute hike. This isn’t fun when you’re carrying a 40 lbs bag to settle for the night. Due to other circumstances on our backpacker trip this is the biggest reason for not returning back to the valley for the last night. I didn’t want to take that hike again to the campground.

Really nice camp hosts and a lot less busy than other campgrounds nearby! I was really happy with my choice of site 529 which was close enough to the river, with a nice view of it (i.e., no neighbors across from us) and without much risk of being flooded. A bunch of sites flooded during our stay here, like site 520, where the water crept up until the fire ring was surrounded. Surprisingly not that many mosquitoes despite proximity to water. Pretty sure we had a bear visit in the night, but no problem chasing it off with some loud noise.

I was in campsite 502.
Such a beautiful site next to the Tenaya Creek and Merced river. When I left to get dinner and came back our campsite was starting to flood. It was a site to see.

Always love North Pines and our experience was fantastic as usual. Thank you for opening up the campsites you could. We were lucky. Unfortunately, the absence of oversight by Park Rangers during the night causes some problems. One night we were awakened at 2:00 a.m. by people arriving and setting up camp next to us and then starting a fire and talking and drinking until 5:00 a.m. They left the next morning and we’re pretty sure they didn’t even have a reservation.

Great campground. This specific site does not have trees near it for hammocks so we used trees at other sites
