Chapman Campground offers a beautifully maintained environment with exceptionally clean bathrooms and friendly, helpful hosts. Campers appreciate the spacious, accessible sites and nearby recreational opportunities, including hiking and fishing. While some guests noted issues with water quality and occasional odor from outhouses, the overall experience is highly positive, with many expressing a desire to return.

The toilets are exceptionally clean. The site itself is very well maintained. I hesitate to say to much lest to many people find this gem.

The CG was very quiet while we were there which made it easier to see wildlife out and about. Lovely deer, gorgeous foxes, a bouncy black bear cub (didn’t see the mama). We had lots of time for walking, biking, fishing, hiking, and relaxing with a book or puzzle. The Nature Loop shows us different treats at different times of year and is always enjoyable. We didn’t get around to getting on the paddle boards but that is another fun activity when we’re at Chapman. We were treated to watching a fishing session by osprey. A beautiful bald eagle was soaring over the reservoir as we departed.

We camped next to the Flying Pan, which was soothing to the soul and good for sleeping. Nice level spot. This is a quiet campground. Meredith (down the road) has a small convenience store/liquor store with the basics - great for grabbing ice, sodas, small first aid stuff. We didn't access the reservoir, but we want to return with kayaks.
The bear box in the site was greatly appreciated, and it was a sizable bear box. We could fit our coolers and other storage containers in it (some bear boxes barely hold a cooler). Table was in excellent shape, and the potable water and dumpster are also appreciated. Kristi and J.D. do an excellent job of keeping the facilities tidy and operational (they are getting a reputation for this)! Very friendly and helpful. Come for the bathrooms, stay for the nature!
