What Guests Are Saying
Colorado Campground offers a beautiful and well-maintained setting with spacious, shaded sites and clean bathrooms. The friendly hosts, Chris and Kathy, receive high praise for their helpfulness and attentiveness, enhancing the camping experience. While some sites may be uneven or lack electrical hookups, the campground’s proximity to Manitou Lake and various hiking trails makes it a great choice for outdoor enthusiasts.

The Campsites are spaced a good distance apart and are clean when you arrive. Toilets were good, recently emptied. Shade was adequate. Some sites were difficult to park two vehicles in side by side. One back in site was almost impossible to back a trailer in because of the trees on the other side of the road and large rocks lining the entrance to the "driveway." Overall, our campsite was spacious for our trailer (could have been wider at the entrance to back into) and our daughter's tent. Plenty of room around the fire pit.

Easily accessible campground with nicely spaced sites. Feels wooded and remote though within close proximity to Woodland Park. Vault toilets were clean and well maintained, some even with air fresheners. Walking distance to beautiful manitou Park Lake.
There is some road noise and some sites are difficult to get into for trailers.

Clean and spacious campground with hosts that really look after the place. Love the quick walk to Manitou Lake and short drive to Florrisant Fossil National Monument

Quiet, clean, well maintained national forest campground. DW didn’t like vault toilets but other aspects offset and she liked our stay overall We really liked the trail to Manitou Lake right out of the campground. Did this hike several times during our stay.

I loved my stay at Colorado Campground. It was very full and the sites are close together, but it was still quiet and peaceful. My site was close to the vault toilets and I did get some strong whiffs every once in a while, but overall the convenience outweighed the smell. I was also close to the trail to Manitou Lake, which was beautiful and peaceful. The vault toilet was clean and had lots of air fresheners. The water pump was fast and easy to use. The site hosts were very friendly. They sell firewood on site for cheaper than you can buy at Home Depot. They also had a fun educational program at the camp amphitheater. I didn't attend, but I loved that they had the option!
Dog note: They do not allow dog runs or leads attached to the trees. I tied mine to the concrete picnic table instead and had no issues.
Cell service note: I have AT&T and didn't really have service at camp, but found full bars on the far side of Manitou Lake by the picnic tables. If you're in a pinch and need quick cell service, you can walk or drive there :)

I think it's rediculous to ban atv's at a campground. I understand not wanting them driven around and have been at and respected that other people don't want to hear atv's and motorcycles driving around all day. Motorcycles are not banned though. Banning them from existence is crazy. We have a toy hauler camper and can't use the camper while the utv is still inside. Staff went a bit crazy because I pulled it out and locked it up on the ground in the parking area. I had no intention of driving it around. It couldn't even be in the vehicle parking area if it wasn't going to be driven. I had to remove the tool box in my truck and put it in the back for the weekend. Craziest experience I've ever had camping in Colorado. Seems like the spirit of the rule/law was being ignored and the law is enforced only by exactly as written. I think Andy Griffith had an episode about that. Maybe banning generators would be good. I hate hearing them run all day when I go to the mountains to get away.

Loved the campground itself. Spaces aren't really on top of one another except in a few spots, bathrooms were clean and the noise was low unless you were really close to the highway and even then it was just the occasional car or truck. There is a small lake nearby that you can get to by walking or driving (we drove) which is included in the price of your stay. The campground has two sets of hosts, all seem friendly. My only two complaints is that one of them gave us very bad/inaccurate advice about how to get home (I highly recommend NOT taking 67 from Sedalia if you have a trailer) and that there doesn't seem to be a ton of enforcement for the dogs on leash policy (this last piece really is just because of the safety hazard it creates for those that have dogs on leash). There was plenty of wood to buy if you didn't bring any and Woodland Park isn't too far away for anything else you've forgotten. We plan on going back soon because we overall loved it so much. Just as an FYI for those who need it - cell signal was incredibly spotty to non-existent.

The host was the nicest lady we have spoken with at any campground! Very helpful. The whole place was exceptionally clean, sites were lodge and restrooms exceptional for cleanliness!
The only problem is the site and our friends across from us were quite difficult to back in as a tree was so very close across from us. We were in site #76. Very nice shade and sun.

The campsites were spaced out well and fire rings and picnic tables were nice. It was very pretty there and quiet. There is a walking trail to nearby Manitou Lake. The vaulted toilet buildings were clean and well stocked. It is a peaceful place to just relax.
