South Meadows - Pike San Isabel Nf (CO)

South Meadow was a beautiful, well kept, and convenient campground for our visit to Woodland Park. We enjoyed driving through rainbow Valley, and to the summit of Ute Pass.

If I could put 10 stars I would! This place is breathtaking! Feels so far away from the town and is only a short 5 min drive away! Our site was amazing!!! It felt like the breath of fresh air we needed!!

Incredible campground. Sites 54 and 55 were exceptional for us. The sites toward the creek side looked amazing. But two of those sites are downwind from the toilets and there is a slight downward slope. I would still opt for a creek side site just for the views. Great host, firewood available, level and large sites, clean toilets, ample tender for fire starts, and all campers quiet/well mannered both AM and PM despite campground being filled. Perfect mix of pine trees creating dappled sunlight and a windbreak. Behind the campground is an amazing trail running beside a creek. Saw a moose cow and her baby as well as beaver working their craft. Great birdwatching. One morning hiked six miles on three different forest service roads. Didn’t see another human…only stunning vistas, mule deer, a curious fox, and some dispersed camping spots tucked in the woods. The only draw back for this camp was a little road noise. But this was mitigated with ear plugs. It would also be wonderful to have a place to swim. But 11 mi canyon or the aquatics center was all I could find nearby. The local lake and ponds prohibited entry. We did clamber in the shallow creek but the leaches were thick and there were tics. This will be my go to spot should I ever stay in the area again!

Peaceful environment and friendly camp host!

South Meadows is a quiet and spacious campground. The camp hosts are very nice and friendly.

This was our first time at South Meadows Campground. It is a pretty campground full of pretty tall pines. There is adequate space between sites. The privies were clean. The main complaint is that most of the sites are pretty unlevel. Our initial site was #40. It was very unlevel, narrow and extremely hard to back in due to large rocks across the road in front of the site driveway. I understand if they are in place to keep people from parking there, but they make it extremely difficult for some sites to be able to back into. Move the big rocks and put up no parking signs! Larry saved the day!!
You are about 30 minutes to Pikes Peak and Garden of the Gods.
