About Thirty Mile

Thirty Mile Campground is nestled on the banks of the Rio Grande River, just a short mile from the Rio Grande Reservoir. The location is perfect for anyone who loves to spend time fishing, canoeing and swimming. In addition, there are two trailheads and regular interpretive programs located at the campground. Across from the Thirty Mile is the Weminuche Wilderness, the largest wilderness area in Colorado. It's a famously rugged region with three mountain peaks reaching over 14 ft.

The hosts were excellent. Toilets were already well supplied and clean. Enjoyed the hiking trails nearby. Creede is nearby and there is a 17 mi tour from there that sounds interesting but our time didn’t allow us to do it.

This is the second time I've stayed here, and it was as quiet, peaceful, and beautiful as I remember from a few years ago. The hosts keep the bathrooms very clean, and having a trail system right at the campground is a huge perk! There's plenty to do in the area, and although I'm one of the few people around who didn't have a 4-wheeler, I still enjoyed myself.

This camp ground is very secluded a good 20 mins or so off hwy 149 on CR 550.
Clear creek falls is a 30 min drive and a must see.

Super sweet spot on the river listening to the flow at night. I can’t even begin to explain how nice and clean the bathrooms were- blew me away!! Our spot was very clean, private and well maintained.

From Alamosa, go west on US 160 to South Fork. Turn northwest on State

Highway 149 through Creede. Continue on Highway 149 to mile marker 41,

turn west (gravel road) on Rio Grande Reservoir Road and continue for 12 mi to

Thirty Mile Campground.

Thirty Mile Campground is accessible via US Highway 160 and State Highway 149. US 160 is approximately 25 miles to the south, providing access to South Fork.

Policies & Rules

Arrival & departure

  • Reservations must be occupied to remain valid; otherwise, they are forfeited with no refund.
  • First-come, first-serve sites are available but not guaranteed.

Cancellation policy

  • Reservation fees are non-refundable. For campsites, cabins, lookouts, yurts, group sites, and similar stays, we charge a reservation service fee of $8.
  • Standard cancellations usually have a $10 cancellation fee. Customers can generally cancel before the check-in date online.
  • Late cancellation rules differ by stay type.
    • Individual campsites: cancelling after 12:00am local time the day before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
    • Cabins, lookouts, and yurts: cancelling less than 14 days before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
    • One-night reservations: a late cancellation usually forfeits the full amount paid, up to the total original reservation cost.
  • Modifications are allowed before the cut-off window, but fees depend on the change. Changing to dates completely outside the original reservation dates may trigger a $10 change fee. Extending or shortening a stay that still includes original dates usually has no change fee, though refunds may depend on timing and facility rules. Switching to the same type of campsite for the same dates usually has no change fee, but price differences are charged or refunded.
  • Early departures may or may not be refunded. At certain facilities, partial refunds may be possible if staff can mark the site available for other visitors. No refund is given for a night if the early departure is requested after that day's check-out time.
  • Security deposits are separate. Security deposits may be refunded to the original payment method if the facility is left in acceptable condition, as determined by the property.

  • Single site fees cover up to 6 guests and 1 vehicle; extra charges apply for additional guests and vehicles.
  • Double site fees cover up to 12 guests and 2 vehicles; extra charges apply for additional guests and vehicles.

Cancellation policy

  • Reservations cannot be modified by camp hosts; guests can modify or cancel online before check-in.

Utilities

  • Trailers must be filled before arrival; filling at hydrants is prohibited to prevent water contamination.
