About Thirty Mile

Thirty Mile Campground is nestled on the banks of the Rio Grande River, just a short mile from the Rio Grande Reservoir. The location is perfect for anyone who loves to spend time fishing, canoeing and swimming. In addition, there are two trailheads and regular interpretive programs located at the campground. Across from the Thirty Mile is the Weminuche Wilderness, the largest wilderness area in Colorado. It's a famously rugged region with three mountain peaks reaching over 14,000 feet.

What Guests Are Saying

Thirty Mile Campground is highly praised for its beautiful mountain views, spacious and clean campsites, and friendly hosts who maintain spotless facilities. Visitors appreciate the campground's privacy, proximity to fishing spots, and access to hiking trails. The main concern noted was the rough 10-mile dirt road and occasional noise from generators, but overall, guests express a strong desire to return.

Place was clean and well kept. The frustrating issue was campsites were reserved with no one staying in them for several days ignoring the rule of occupying on the first night of the reservation

The dirt road in is in good condition and we really enjoyed this campground! Sites are large and ours backed to a creek, which was nice. I hiked a few miles on the Weminuche Creek trail which starts in the campground. The Rio Grande reservoir has two access points; one a few miles from the campground marked by a sign that read "toilet" and the other at the far west end. We enjoyed a day trip to Creede and drove over Slumgullion pass/Lake City on the way back.
Unfortunately the people next to us ran their generator from 7am to 10pm which was super annoying; maybe if you need that much power for your residential fridge, you should stay in an RV park instead of inconveniencing everyone around you. I don't go camping so that I can listen to a lawn mower noise all weekend.
