Big Meadows Reservoir Campground offers a stunning natural setting with well-maintained, spacious sites and clean facilities, including immaculate pit toilets. This was our second trip to Big Meadows over a 4th of July weekend. While our site (#35) was roomy, it was loud and too far from the reservoir. The site is located at the entrance of the campground and across from the camp hosts. It is unlikely that we will go back to BM because it was just too packed and noisy; we saw more ATVs, dirt bikes, and large trucks and trailers (generators going around the clock) on this trip than we did in 2023. If we do go back, will not stay at site #35.

This is a beautiful campsite area. We loved our stay. There is a nice hike around the lake that our family enjoyed.

Unfortunately, we had a couple groups that were driving their four wheelers and dirt bikes all over the roads at speeds much higher than 5 miles per hour. This was the first time we had this problem there. These were adults. I am recommending not letting four wheelers drive on the roads at all. I was told by the ranger station that I would need to call a ranger to have him come out and talk to them, but there usually is not any reception at this campground. Please consider changing how these are allowed in campgrounds. The campground is there to be enjoyed. I also noticed cars parking all over the roadways, especially by the lake. We left our campsite early because we might not have been able to get our camper past all the cars/trucks parking all over the sides of the road.

Excellent camp sites. The lower loop is more spread out than most. The 2 upper loops are very spread out. We were in #8 and it was fantastic. Could hear the waterfall and see the reservoir and far sides. Lush, a bit of rain, great reservoir, nice hike around, and fantastic temperatures (we were coming from Tucson). I would go back to this campground again and stay a bit longer.

Clean services, site was ready and well groomed. Friendly camp host. Beautiful setting. What more could we ask for?

Still one of my favorite places. New camp host, but no change in friendliness, restroom maintenance or general campground upkeep. Fishing was really good. Crowds over the weekend were considerate and seemed to have a good time. The road in was the roughest it's ever been (might be because of a wet season so far). I have Starlink so I had wi-fi coverage but was told that a cell signal for Verizon was available. Only one dog family letting their dog bark in the second loop. Ospreys, marmots, weasels, pikas, deer and waterfowl are just some of the animals hanging out around the reservoir.

Winds held up fishing for a couple days but we explored and found other things to do.
Nice campground.

The campground is well laid out, and the sites are spaced out so there is adequate privacy. The bathrooms were very clean.
