Nice campground with a lake. Some campsites are completely exposed to bring shade.

This is an amazingly beautiful campground right on the side of a lake. The facilities were super-clean and the host was very nice. The group site is meant for tent camping and not overlanding vehicles. We had 6 vehicles - 5 roof/vehicle campers and 1 tent camper. The tent sites are very nice and centrally located around an area of picnic tables and fire pit but the parking lot is pretty small. We did however manage to get all 6 vehicles parked into this space. Thanks for a great stay!

Camp hosts were exceptional! Toilets clean and promptly attended to a bathroom that had been recently soiled.

What a wonderful campground! The hosts keep the campground and bathrooms very clean and orderly. You camp within easy walking distance to the lake for paddleboarding and fishing. There are numerous hiking trails nearby, with the Archuleta Lake Trail Head right at the campground. We come back here every summer, so that says a lot.

The Big Meadows Campground is very nice. The road from the highway into the campground (approximately 2 miles) can be very rough and needs to be graded more frequently. The campground is close to the quaint town of South Fork, or travel over Wolf Creek Pass to Pagosa Springs. The campground has a nice fishing lake and lots of hiking trails. Unfortunately, campers have become less mindful of rules and we had problems with ATV/Dirt Bikes speeding down the roads (posted at 5mph). Would be nice if the campground rules were enforced more.

As usual great place. Should enforce generator noise rules and too much side by side cruising. Hosts were great as always.

Beautiful place on this earth. Very clean vault toilets. Downside was dogs barking because people leave them in their campers for the day

This was our second trip to Big Meadows over a 4th of July weekend. While our site (#35) was roomy, it was loud and too far from the reservoir. The site is located at the entrance of the campground and across from the camp hosts. It is unlikely that we will go back to BM because it was just too packed and noisy; we saw more ATVs, dirt bikes, and large trucks and trailers (generators going around the clock) on this trip than we did in 2023. If we do go back, will not stay at site #35.

This is a beautiful campsite area. We loved our stay. There is a nice hike around the lake that our family enjoyed.

Unfortunately, we had a couple groups that were driving their four wheelers and dirt bikes all over the roads at speeds much higher than 5 miles per hour. This was the first time we had this problem there. These were adults. I am recommending not letting four wheelers drive on the roads at all. I was told by the ranger station that I would need to call a ranger to have him come out and talk to them, but there usually is not any reception at this campground. Please consider changing how these are allowed in campgrounds. The campground is there to be enjoyed. I also noticed cars parking all over the roadways, especially by the lake. We left our campsite early because we might not have been able to get our camper past all the cars/trucks parking all over the sides of the road.
