This campground is VERY nice and the pit bathrooms were the VERY nice and clean compared to others around the USA. We used the site to acclemate for a night at 9,200 before going up to 11,700 to Archeleta Lake for 3 nights.

This was a gorgeous campground with a variety of sites and views. The little trail to Cascade Falls was beautiful, and walking along the creek provided for some great views, relaxing spots to read, and fishing sites. It was a long drive but the site was worth it.

Campground was in excellent shape this year. Bathrooms were cleaner than they have been in many years! Kudos to the hosts! Wild raspberries everywhere. Can’t wait till next season

Colorado Resident who drives 5 hours to camp at this location. This is one of our favorite places. In addition to the beautiful setting on the east side of Wolf Creek Pass, you have an easy hiking trail (kid friendly) around the lake and if you are really adventurous, you can head up the canyon on one of the trails (hazards).
The camp hosts have been friendly and attentive each of our visits over the last 4 years.
Fishing: The fishing is outstanding. You have a lake with a dam for bait or fly fishing. There are creeks coming in and out of the reservoir allowing for some good, but narrow and woody, fly fishing (short rod). Boats are allowed (No Wake). You aren't going to catch the state record, but if you can't catch a fish in this lake, you should take up another hobby. Rainbows and Brookies.
Campground: Many wonderful sites. Somewhere around 50/50 between reservations needed (and yes, you need to get on it 6 months out) and sites that are First Come, First Served. In fact, I am of the opinion that all Lower Level sites should be reservation only. The sites on the outside of the ring are spacious and offer nice views. The Middle and Upper levels have some amazing views as well, but you have to know which ones (like FF #19 is great).
Outhouse: This is your standard style outhouse, EXCEPT these are the best kept and maintained outhouses I have ever been in.
Water: There are no water hook-ups, but there is fresh water available in the campgrounds.
Electric: No hook-ups, but generators are allowed. During my two trips this summer, people were respectful of the time and noise issues of a generator.
Weather: Ever afternoon you should expect a rain shower (sometimes with lightning and thunder) to come through. Mornings and nights are usually crisp and clear.
Wi-Fi signal: I have Verizon. I was able to get e-mail and text messages, but could not get an internet connection. E-mails and text messages would not send with photo attachments.
