What Guests Are Saying

Big Meadows Reservoir Campground offers a stunning natural setting with well-maintained, spacious sites and clean facilities, including immaculate pit toilets. Visitors appreciate the variety of recreational activities, such as fishing, kayaking, and hiking, as well as the friendly camp hosts. While some guests noted issues with noise from generators and accessibility for larger campers, the overall experience remains positive, with many returning year after year.

We really like this place. Great view of the lake from most all spots. The sites are spread out enought that you feel you have your own sweet view. We used our UTV and EMTB to get around to other areas easily. They have water available, though we didn't need it for our two night stay. We saw a lot of people catching fish at the lake and at Shaw lake up the road, so, that's our next thing we will try here. The winds were too rough most of the time while here so the Kayaks we brought sat in their perch. The hike around the lake is very nice and easy with the extended hike options though we were recovering from injuries so didn't take full advantage. The temps drop quickly at night so next time we are going to have a portable fire bowl to plug into the propane port on our RV to let us stay out a little longer. I wish there were more UTV and EMTB options on the west side of the road. T

This was our second year on site 46 on the upper loop. In contrast to the previous year, we were eaten alive by bugs and because of the hot dry conditions the roads were extremely dusty. Those that drove the speed limit of 5 mph raised very little dust, but they were far and few between. A vast majority drove well above the speed limit and showed little consideration of others. Site 46 is a single remote site on a big curve where people had a tendency to pick up speed. The road should have some kind of treatment for dust abatement.

Very nice campground but it was crazy windy while we were there but the fishing was still good. We will go back!

Site 20 has plenty of views and for us was the perfect site. If you are bothered by people walking past, know that there is a little trail up to a waterfall just steps from your spot, we were not bothered and having a view of the waterfall from multiple locations in our spot and hearing the crashing water (Late May/Early June) was an added perk. The space is wide enough to park your trailer and tow vehicle, we have a very short trailer so no issues parking. We didn't use the rest room facilities or water access this time, however we have in the past and the hosts keep everything very tidy. The lake is actually managed by CPW and the parking area there could use some attention, seems that some people don't understand the concept of picking up after themselves - trash litters the ground even though there is a trash can at the end of the parking area.
