Our campsite was clean and level. We greatly appreciated the dust control being maintained on the access road from Highway 160. The fishing was excellent and kudos for re-stocking it.

I loved the view, the feeling of being rural, and the sound of the falls at night. Camping neighbors were respectful of one another, host was kind, and bathrooms were amazingly clean & stocked (& even smelled good). I enjoyed the hiking around the reservoir; the public area is far enough away from the campsite that I felt like I had still had privacy. There are definitely sites that are “better” than others. Mine had little to no shade, which is my #1 preference. However, I felt lucky to get a spot, so next season I will try earlier for a reservation in those spots I think are more ideal for me. I will definitely return! Thanks to the host(s) for ensuring this wonderful camping experience for me & my family.

A beautiful location. Most campsites are comfortably spread out giving campers peaceful solitude (barring rude and rowdy neighbors). The vault toilet bathrooms are highly reviewed for their cleanliness, and we give them a thumbs up as well. They were in fact so clean, we considered picnicking in one of them. The hosts never came by, but saw them out and about periodically.

We loved the fishing, hiking around the lake, hiking up to the waterfall, and visiting the small towns in the area. South Fork is great for groceries and shopping. Creede and Lake City are great visits. Campground was clean and a beautiful site during the day and night.

Big Meadows is a beautiful campground at the base of Wolf Creek Pass. The lake is beautifully full with all of the season’s rain. The vault toilets were the cleanest I’ve ever seen in a campground and the hosts added air freshener and hand sanitizer, which I very much appreciated. Water was available near the vault toilets, however it’s a regular faucet only, so there’s no way to attach a hose to it if you’re hoping to fill your RV’s tank upon arrival, other than filling a water can and pouring it in. I had a 1/2 tank of water already so it wasn’t a problem for me, but my brother in law was unable to add water to his Tab 400 trailer since it requires filling it with a pressurized hose connection.
Since there are no utilities available at the sites, several trailers used generators for electric service. Most were polite in doing so, but one in particular ran the generator all day long, and even after 10 pm. It was a regular construction type generator and was quite loud. If you need to use a generator PLEASE be considerate to others and use it sparingly. Even better if you use a quieter inverter generator.
