Rocky Mountain National Park Moraine Park Campground

Great spot up on a slight incline/small walk from parking spot, can still view your vehicle from the pad. The pad is hard packed and groomed - everything at the sight was in great condition. Decent spacing between neighboring spots, on the hill you feel like you have the area to yourself, but do not hike down right behind this site to access the visible bathroom (if you can't see the path that's frequented between this site and the next to get there, especially in the dark, please just walk down the road). We wish we could have stayed longer! When in doubt, make sure you check out with the Ranger post as you leave, especially if you were a late arrival on your first night - though the late arrival check-in form is usually out, it wasn't available on the night we arrived so they didn't have us officially checked in, since we were leaving early in the morning to go hike, we didn't want to be marked as no-shows (doesn't hurt to double check! Plus the Rangers were awesome as always).

The sites were roomy and well maintained. The views from site C197 were amazing. Bathrooms were clean, but need updating.

Outstanding facilities. Great location. Our site was very uneven but fortunately we have auto levelers on our motor coach. We will return and hopefully get a better site.

Had a great time at RMNP, tent camping in Moraine Park. Deer and elk everywhere! Campground nicely spread out. Comfort stations were clean, but would have loved a shower too. Hiked Sky Pond, Fern Lake, Horse Trail in Moraine Park. Camping allowed us to forgo timed entry so we could spend as much or as little time in Bear Lake corridor. Already planning our next trip😊

Great campground! Some sites a little close together but great to be able to camp inside the park

The timed entry process is horrendous. 20 minute wait to get into the park, another 20 minute wait to get into the bear canyon (where the campground is), then another 20 minute wait to get into the campground because everyone checking in to camp has to wait until 1pm and cannot get into the park any earlier. They need to allow those with a campground reservation to enter the park at any time on the day of their reservation! The rangers only seem to “appear” when it is check in time and they don’t know how to handle a long line of vehicles waiting to check in. They actually walked down the line providing information that took them about 5 minutes per car and literally held up the line making things much worse. They said they were out of campground maps, so they held up the line telling people to take a photo of the front and back of the single paper map they were holding. NOTE; after setting up camp I walked over to the ranger station and there was a whole pile of paper maps sitting outside there. Of course the ranger station was always closed. They seem to have no office hours.

The sites are too close together and do not have any trees or bushes between them. Some of the sites have nice views. It’s great that some sights have electric hookups, but none have water and the campground map water locations is not accurate. The campground was quiet when I was there and most people followed the rules, but for those breaking the rules it was a free for all because no host or rangers were ever around. The pit toilets scattered around the campground were reasonably clean. 2 bars of service on Visible (Verizon) allowing me to text and upload. The site pads are dirt/gravel and fairly level. The roads are paved and narrow. Dump is free and has potable water. DO NOT use the Moraine shuttle, the schedule is a joke, drive to park n ride and use the Bear Lake Shuttle. To see wildlife (Moose) get up early and drive to Sprague Lake, then catch the shuttle from park n ride

This campground is in a great location in the Rocky Mountain National Park for hiking, wildlife viewing and driving the beautiful roads with exceptional views. Site # 213 however was a poor choice for us. It's almost impossible to back a small travel trailer into this site with a rock on the passenger side and another campsite directly in front of it on a sharp curve. A camper van or maybe a small teardrop would work better on this site. Tent pad is good. Should not be designated as a trailer site. This site sets in the middle of the curve with a downhill back-in which makes the driveway sit very low. When it rains your tires will be in water. Wasn't at the campsite much due to hiking but the only plus to this one is that it has electricity and it's inside the park which covers the time entry to Bear Lake road. One important note is even with a reservation in hand you cannot get through the RMNP gate until 1:00.
