What Guests Are Saying
Columbine Campground offers beautiful scenery, clean facilities, and a friendly camp host, making it a pleasant camping experience. Many visitors enjoyed the hiking opportunities and proximity to local attractions, with some even spotting wildlife like moose. However, noise from nearby off-road vehicles and loud campers can be disruptive, particularly on weekends.

Really beautiful and quiet site. Lots of dead leaves/sticks great for starting the camp fire.

I love this campground and the host Glen. He is so attentive and really cares about this campground. One thing that was VERY disappointing about my recent visit was the road leading up to the campground. I couldn't believe the condition of the road! It had so many rocks, tree branches and major holes in the road. My Sprinter rocked back and forth during the 1.5 mile trek and I had to go so slow that it took me almost 30 minutes to drive this road. It wasn't like that last year. Not sure what can be done about this but the road is dangerous to your shocks!!

Campground was nice. Road was horrible to get there! A road that should take you to the campground in 2 minutes, takes you 20 minutes with a camper because of all the pot holes and washboards. Didn’t know gravel or a road grader were hard to come by in Colorado.

Beautiful campground with very clean amenities. Be careful on the drive-in as the road is unpaved. We were able to bring our 13' travel trailer down the road but had to go extremely slowly due to rocks and potholes throughout the road.

Nice campsite close to Denver, note there is an ATV track near by and many campers are there for that reason. The proximity to historical sites in Gilpin County is fantastic. We had an ATV group next to us that ran their generator all day, it was not as quite as we wanted it to be

This was our first time staying in this campground. Road in was very bumpy and full of potholes. Spots are close to each other so very little privacy when it is full. Much better location during the week than on weekends. Bathrooms were clean but smelled awful! Won't be back as there a much better campground options.

Great campground that is close to home. Site was large and plenty of room for our tent. A little noisy with the generators. Lots of shade.

Overall a nice campground location. Nice trees and shade. The campground host Glen was nice and our bathroom was very clean. Even though he was sick, he still got up and did his duty cleaning and helping campers.
Other reviewers were correct in saying this is a big campground for OHV (ATVs) and they make a lot of noise. To be aware: the dirt road to the campground is a bit bumpy not well marked (Apple maps will send you up the wrong road up the Upper Apex Valley Road).
