What Guests Are Saying
Echo Lake offers beautiful views and well-maintained hiking trails, making it a lovely area for outdoor enthusiasts. Many guests appreciated the cleanliness of the bathrooms and the attentiveness of the campground staff. However, some found the campsite spacing too close and faced challenges with signage and navigation to the campground. Overall, it's a pleasant spot for camping, especially for those seeking nature and hiking opportunities.

I arrived two days earlier before this reservation began. I met Darryl and Janet, Camp Hosts. My site was available, arrangements were made to occupy this site ahead of the July, 30 reservation date. The camp site was ready and was in superb condition, clean, ready for occupancy. Darryl and Janet were friendly, helpful, accommodating of requests to make my stay memorable. They regularly patrolled the entire facility, efficiently cleaned and prepared restroom facilities, making sure that toileting supplies were plentiful. I particularly appreciated they're stopping to chat, asking if they could help in any way. I had an issue with my vehicle, Darryl looked up the vehicle's information to assist if the condition could be resolved, while it couldn't the effort was greatly appreciated. Both Darryl and Janet always asked how I was doing with my bicycling and were supportive with reporting upcoming weather conditions to help me plan my daily adventures. Although my bicycling turned out to be more limited, due to weather and health, I will remember this trip in glowing terms. I love the Echo Lake facility and will recommend it to anyone who has camping interest.
The road to the top of Mount Evans is a peak experience that should not be missed. Steady traffic on any day showed the power of this site. I met many campers, hikers, cyclists during my stay. Trails are clearly marked, ample parking is usually available. Cellphone use is limited due to the remote area. Sadly, the lodge at Echo Lake is currently not in use, is under planned improvement, there is only a food truck on that site. I hope the renewing project will be sped up as the Lodge had had a restaurant, rooms plus an excellent gift shop with helpful, friendly and knowledgeable staff. The general road conditions to the top of Mount Evans need work as the pavement is too bumpy in places, making a descent on a bicycle more hazardous than necessary. Campsite signs are clearly posted and are informative.

Good valu for money. Keep in mind that restrooms are just OK and campsite is close to lots of foot traffic. Glad there was firewood bundles for sale, and free water from the pump.

A beautiful but busy area but that’s to be expected so close to Denver metro. A great base camp for exploring Mt. Evans and the lake is beautiful. Campsites were fairly close together for #’s 1-4 - we will try for #5 and up next time to be further from the road to top of Mt Evans. Camp manager is very friendly, brought us wood and overall helpful and kind. Our family had a really nice experience!

The campground was very clean and well maintained. The campground host were incredibly helpful and kind. The site was gorgeous. It offered a lot of privacy while still feeling safe while camping alone with two kids. Hiking trails were close and lots of options for exploring.

The campsites themselves were very nice with a tent pad, table, fire ring, and even an extra bench. They’re in a wooded location. They are close together. The campground road is dirt and gravel. The pit toilets were on the worse side we've seen. The only water is from a well and it was murky. Firewood is for sell by the host for $9 per bundle.

Really nice spot! Super pretty, very easy to find. It is close to the road, so there's some traffic noise during the day, but otherwise not too bad. Also, the site says there's potable water, but it's kind of a weird color so I would recommend bringing your own water to drink. Bathrooms are well kept too.
I should also add that the sites are a bit smaller than expected. It says there's room for 8 people in tents at a site. but that's pretty much impossible. We had two people sleep in their car and then could only fit one tent on the designated area- the rest set up tents around the site.
