What Guests Are Saying
Echo Lake offers beautiful views and well-maintained hiking trails, making it a lovely area for outdoor enthusiasts. Many guests appreciated the cleanliness of the bathrooms and the attentiveness of the campground staff. However, some found the campsite spacing too close and faced challenges with signage and navigation to the campground. Overall, it's a pleasant spot for camping, especially for those seeking nature and hiking opportunities.

Loved this campsite. Spent 6 nights and site #10 was perfect. Close (but not too close) to the less busy of the two vault toilets, although a bit close to site 9. Tent pads are small so my 6 person tent would barely fit, but this site is extremely spacious. Fit two hammocks, an extra 4 person tent one night when a friend stayed over, my screen tent, etc. and still had plenty of space. I'd choose this site again, although site 11 and 14 looked really nice as well. There are 4 trailheads from the campsite - Echo Lake, Chicago Lakes, Captain Mountain, and Resthouse. I drove to the Beaver Meadows trailhead one morning, which was about an hour drive. Highly recommended site, but be prepared to be out of breath no matter what you're doing due to the 10,600 foot elevation. Also be prepared for some cold nights and pack lots of layers and extra blankets if you're tent camping!

Camp sites were next to each other but it was quiet. Toilets were clean.

Cozy campground by the highest paved road in the world, clean and well maintained. Careful for camp birds, they are cute until they steal your lunch. Right by Echo Lake and neat souvenir lodge. My 4 year old loved the site.

This site is a walk-in right at the entrance to the campground. Lodge is 100 yards away, road to Mt. Evans summit is 50 yards away but was sadly closed at time of my visit. Campsite 004 is called a walk-in but is literally right next to the parking spot. Toilets were 20 yards away, trash and well pump were about a 100 yards walk. Sites also included bear boxes. At the time of my stay fires were not allowed, but my stay and the site were excellent. This campground is over 10000 ft elevation so be prepared for some cold nights. Trailhead was right by site to hike up Mt. Evans.

Beautiful spot though a little close to site 9. Very clean bathrooms and the campground in general was quiet. Gorgeous!

Stayed at sites 6 and 7. They are very close together. Tent pad for 7 is right next to parking spot. Easy to find Echo Lake campground just off well paved road. Can drive right up to sites. Potties were relatively clean and maintained. There are two at the campground. The one nearest the entrance is used by more bodies, campers and day hikers. The other is used by sites further in and so was cleaner, but only one stall. Unfortunately, road to Mt. Evans closed due to COVID. Trails around Echo Lake and up to Chicago Lake were crowded. If forget supplies, the Echo Lake Lodge store has basics as well as a restaurant. Didn't find altitude to be a problem but you are camping at over 10,000 feet so bring layers and prepare for cool nights, i.e., low 40s. Great tree cover for all sites so very comfortable during the day. Fire ban so we had to bring in propane fire pit and stoves. Didn't see any sign of bears, but used bear boxes. Lots of birds; an aggressive jay ate a banana off our table. Overall a great weekend. Thumbs up!

The campground has a small tent pad so if you have a large tent, be ready to be innovate placement. The tent sites are placed close together so if full, you will feel like you are on top of neighbors. Pit toilets are in poor condition inside, not well maintained. Hiking is good and accessible from camp. Bear boxes provided. It’s a walk up site, so you have to pack stuff in, furthest walk is 50yds from parking lot. Campground is close to road so it’s a bit noisy. Fishing at nearby Echo Lake was a no-go because it was full of aquatic plants...all you would catch is leaves.

It was a very nice camp ground. The bear locker was a nice thing to have and gave a piece of mind. Despite the fact that it had been raining all week we could not have a fire. That is the only reason I did not rate higher
