It was ok. Doubt we will go back. Make sure you measure your rig and truck properly. These spots, no matter what the website states, are very tight. They do not accomodate a medium (17') trailer and truck in line or truck on the side. Truck has to be perpendicular in front of the trailer and even that is tight. You also completely block the road for others while you are getting situated in your spot so have patience! Your neighbors are pretty close. The views are good and our host was nice. The water on the lake was pretty low last year. It is also very windy so be prepared for that. We couldn't have a fire for our few nights.

Wonderful campground. I could only find 1 warm shower on the campground that worked. Even though there should have been 3 restrooms with showers. The other 2 had signs that they were out of order. Of the 1 bathroom that had a working hot shower 2/3 of those shower's had warm water.

The location and views are great. However, as is true for all forest service campgrounds in Colorado, It is not clear where the money from the camping fees are going. When the management of the campgrounds was transitioned to contractors many years ago, we were assured it would result in better management and constant improvements. There is no real evidence that any significant improvements have been made at Stillwater (or any other campground) for a long time. The bathrooms and shower facilities are in need of general repairs, or renovation. The showers need to be updated. Also, more sites should have electrical services in order to provide more selection on locations. Many of the picnic tables need to be better maintained or replaced. Where are the fees going other than to the contractor's pocket?

I love this place. We visited the first weekend in October and caught a beautiful weather window and some peak Aspen peeping. The campground itself appeared to be half-open, with the vast majority of the lower campgrounds shut down for the year and blocked off. The campground hosts that were there were not as attentive as normal, but they were around. I would never hesitate to stay at this campground. It is super beautiful.

Some of the campsites were more open than ours, but ours was totally surrounded by trees and felt very private. We liked that flushing toilets. They were well maintained as well. We had our own private path to the bathroom, which we liked. Loved the proximity to the lake as well.

We loved this campsite. It was very well maintained, beautiful location and our neighbors were kind all 4 nights that we stayed. Unfortunately we did have a camping table get stolen while we were out one afternoon. We felt comfortable enough to leave it behind after having met almost all of the people around us several days in a row but it was gone when we returned from just a few hours of being away from camp. Other than this we had a great experience and would love to come back with our dog

Kind hosts, clean facilities. Sites are close together and there are no trees. VERY windy in the afternoon, but the view makes up for it.
