Stillwater (Colorado)

We had a great stay. Too much rain but otherwise great. Camp Hosts Angela and Kim and their spouses were awesome! Super helpful, very knowledgeable. Thank for a great time.

Nicely maintained campground and the views are spectacular. Fire ban due to drought and sadly the lake was shallower this year — but we had a lovely time nonetheless.

Disappointing experience overall. We arrived around 3 p.m., but no one was at the check-in booth. We had been told only one vehicle was included with the campsite, so we paid $8/day for our two extra vehicles at the entrance kiosk, only to learn it was for boat parking—not campground vehicles (did not get a refund from kiosk). We ended up paying another extra $48 for 2 cars. No instructions were provided on how to pay for campground parking or about campsite rules.

Campfires and charcoal grills were prohibited, even in the designated enclosed fire areas, despite no active fire restrictions nearby. After we finished setting up our tents, two campground hosts arrived around 7 p.m. and rudely informed us that our tents could not extend beyond the small tent pad. The pad could barely fit one medium-sized tent, even though the site is advertised for up to 8 people. With 7 campers and 3 tents, we had no choice but to place one tent slightly outside the pad. After spending considerable time setting up, we were forced to move everything and crowd into a much smaller area.

Although all of our vehicles fit within the campsite, we were not allowed to keep them there and were required to park in a distant overflow lot.

The facilities were also poorly maintained. Only one shower was partially functional, while the others had reportedly been broken for years, yet the campground still charges full camping fees.

Also, be aware that Lake Granby is experiencing severe drought conditions (at least in early July), so don't expect the scenic lake views shown in older photos.

Overall, this was a disappointing camping experience. Poor customer service, lack of communication, poorly maintained facilities, and rigid enforcement of rules without reasonable accommodation made our stay frustrating, not relaxing and enjoyable at all. I would avoid this campground unless you specifically need a site with water and electrical hookups, which are limited in the area.

We had a lovely time in Stillwater. Showers and bathrooms were cleaned and well-maintained. The views were beautiful and the 4th of July festivities were lots of fun. We'll be back!

We love stillwater. We camp here every year. Just be mindful of the site you pick, some sites can feel like they're on top of each other.

We have stayed in this campground before and had a great experience. However, although this camp sight was a great size, we found it to be far from the bathrooms, as well as there was no bear box at our location.

Great place, nice spot, clean park

Even though the lake was low due to the drought, I was able to take my little boat out and have fun everyday. The views and the setting are gorgeous and relaxing. The bathrooms and campsites are clean and maintained well.
