It was a very nice small campground. We were there during the week and the campground was quiet and peaceful. There is no water available which was clearly stated at time of reservation and also in emails from Recreation.gov. You can hike around the immediate area and there is a serious hike from there - I forget the name but it has either "Satan" or "Devil" in the title. Beware!
The camp Host was very helpful and friendly.
And not the not so good part: The toilets was very smelly and there were lots of flies in the toilet.

Beautiful area. The camp host was extremely nice and very helpful. The camp ground was clean, neat and tidy. The toilets were also very clean. The area was quiet and it was nice that it was a short distance from Denver.

Great campsite. Great host. Conveniently close to Idaho Springs. The road up gets very rocky towards the end. Don’t bring the Corvette.

What a lovely campsite - probably the cleanest site I've ever been to. The camp host was kind enough to even call me the day of the reservation to let me know she was out of firewood and if we needed some to make sure to get it in town. We were there in early June, so our site was pretty exposed since the leaves didn't come in yet - I think this place would be lovely in the fall. Hell's Hole hike is right there for a day hike - bonus.

Very clean campsite. I enjoyed the long 3 mi drive into the campsite. We saw some moose along the way and a deer and baby fawn. Secluded and quiet. Has a nice creek nearby as well as hiking trails. We visited Mt evans after our camping adventures. Short drive up the mountain from the campsite.

Highway access
West Chicago Creek is accessible via US Highway 6, approximately 10 miles to the north, and Interstate 70, roughly 15 miles to the west.
Policies & Rules
Utilities
- Guests must bring their own water as the well is not functioning and RV connections are unavailable.
Site capacity
- There are limited sites available on a first-come, first-served basis.
- Guests must remain on their reserved site; site swapping is not permitted.
- Tents must be placed on designated pads; RVs and trailers must use the parking spur, with no off-road parking allowed.
Wildlife & food storage
- Keep your campsite clean and do not store food in your tent to ensure safety from bears.

- This is a busy place and site swapping is not allowed.
Site types & loops
- Off-highway vehicles (OHVs) are not permitted in the campground as there are no trails available.
Fires & fuel
- To protect the environment, do not move firewood; buy it locally and burn it on-site.
- Campfires and charcoal fires may be prohibited during hot, dry weather due to fire restrictions.
Fees & deposits
- An extra vehicle fee of $8.00 per night applies for additional vehicles beyond the first included vehicle.
Cancellation policy
- Reservation modifications must be done through Recreation.gov before your arrival; changes cannot be made after check-in.
