What Guests Are Saying
Pinon Flats Campground is well-regarded for its friendly camp host, Nancy, and beautifully maintained facilities, including clean restrooms and stunning views of the sand dunes. The campground offers a peaceful atmosphere, ample tree cover, and easy access to hiking trails. However, some sites are small and not fully accessible for individuals with mobility challenges, and issues with noise from other campers have been noted. Overall, it is a memorable camping experience with great amenities.

We had such a lovely stay at Piñon Flats! It was both affordable and gave us front-row seats to the incredible Great Sand Dunes. The bathrooms were nice and clean and our neighbors were all lovely. Highly recommend this spot to any adventurer or weary traveler.

You are not allowed to hang things from the trees. I had a mosquito net that would have been helpful but had to take it down. Mosquitoes were not horrible but they were around. Sites are close together. Views are lovely. We saw rangers during the day checking on things but not at quiet hours which was unfortunate because we had very loud neighbors 2/3 nights that carried on late into the night.

The campground bathrooms are clean. Mosquitoes were bad. Store was not open three of our four night stay.

We really likes our camp site, an the campground. It is clean, it was quiet and family friendly.
We were not prepared for the heavy wind that's coming up at night. We hat very heavy wind both nights an ot ripped off our tent. Out nights were very uncomfortable.
That nothing the NPS is responsible for.

This spot is right next to the bathrooms and camp host, so it is not as quiet or dark as it could be, particularly if the camp host runs generators or fans into the night.

Clean bathrooms, great views at almost all the sites, rangers were always out and monitoring sites. Camp store and firewood delivery were nice.

This was a wonderfully maintained campground. Bathrooms to signage, everything was great.
Even without the water flowing in the creek, there were considerable numbers of mosquitoes. The shade structure we brought had netting which I highly recommend.

The setting was beautiful but the mosquitoes were large and vicious. We stayed in loop A one night and loop B the second night. In both areas there were campers that didn't follow the quiet hours. I'm glad we stayed there but I wouldn't stay there again.
