What Guests Are Saying
Pinon Flats Campground is well-regarded for its friendly camp host, Nancy, and beautifully maintained facilities, including clean restrooms and stunning views of the sand dunes. The campground offers a peaceful atmosphere, ample tree cover, and easy access to hiking trails. However, some sites are small and not fully accessible for individuals with mobility challenges, and issues with noise from other campers have been noted. Overall, it is a memorable camping experience with great amenities.

Amazing bathrooms and sinks, cool lady at the store. Bring mosquito spray during season for sure.

We had what I would consider the best camping spot in the campgrounds! It was near the restrooms and trail to the dunes and dumpsters… conveniently located near enough to everything. The views of the Dunes from our Rooftop tent were spectacular and the stars amazing! And always important… the restrooms are kept clean.

We had an amazing time! Our site #71 had a view of the dunes, and a copse of trees near it for afternoon shade. The bathrooms were clean, the staff friendly, and the camp store adorable. The open landscape was great for solar, and there were some trails nearby. H8ghly recommend

Site 33 has an amazing view of the dunes. The campground is tight for anything bigger than a 30 foot RV.

The bathroom was extremely clean - cleanest campground bathroom I've ever seen. The bathhouse overall is new - there is an outdoor sink at the bathroom for washing dishes / filling water. The campsite had many picnic tables and space for tents and 3 fire rings. Note - the campground has some trees, but it is still desert - very sandy. There was no attendant on duty when we arrived about 6PM, so just continued to our booked campsite and setup camp - no checkin. If you are planning on exploring the dunes, note it is about a 1/2 mile walk through the loose sand from the parking lot to the base of the dunes.

We were in site 32. It has no shade, so it was very hot. We were also concerned that the campground host was "off duty" our entire three night stay, Wednesday through Friday, which made us think that maybe there isn't one due to the massive cuts made by our misguided president. We love the Sand Dunes and Pinon Flats campground and will be back again, but not during mosquito season!

Note that the drive-through RV spot 35 would not accommodate a big RV because it was not very wide. You are basically parking on the side of the road. We had a pop-up and had to turn it around to avoid stepping out in traffic. Great view, with deer walking by each day.
