What Guests Are Saying
Pinon Flats Campground is well-regarded for its friendly camp host, Nancy, and beautifully maintained facilities, including clean restrooms and stunning views of the sand dunes. The campground offers a peaceful atmosphere, ample tree cover, and easy access to hiking trails. However, some sites are small and not fully accessible for individuals with mobility challenges, and issues with noise from other campers have been noted. Overall, it is a memorable camping experience with great amenities.

Some of the women’s bathrooms weren’t open. No hand dryers or paper towels in men’s bathrooms. Campground is very loud as sites are close together and campers are coming and going at all hours.
Otherwise a very nice campground

Loved the dunes but the bugs were intolerable. Cancelled 2nd night.

Outstanding experience. Disappointed that Medano dried up earlier than expected. The bugs were a nuisance.

Nice campground between the dunes and the mountains. There is a trail right next to the site that leads to the dunes. The restrooms are a 1-2 minute walk down the nearby pathway. The night sky was beautiful here and there is a decent amount of people up at 2am looking at the stars through their telescopes. We stated in late May and it still got pretty chilly overnight. Overall a great campsite.

Great view of the dunes from site 32 and right by the dune trail. Was very windy so be prepared in terms of gear. Restrooms were clean, host was kind and respectful. Would camp here again when Medano Creek is flowing.

My husband and I stayed at Piñon Flats for 3 nights. Our campsite had beautiful views of the dunes. The bathrooms were clean and the camp store was convenient. We loved being able to walk from the campground to hiking trails and the dunes. We also enjoyed exploring Medano Pass (4x4 is required). Definitely recommend and would camp here again.

Nice campground with very clean bathrooms and perfect location in the park. The site was large and could fit two tents in addition to being an RV site (we tent camped) but no privacy without an RV in front. There was a small area of shade on one side that was welcome on a hot day. Three good sized steps up to the tent/picnic table area. Partial dune view that is blocked if there is an RV at the site across the road.
