What Guests Are Saying
Pinon Flats Campground is well-regarded for its friendly camp host, Nancy, and beautifully maintained facilities, including clean restrooms and stunning views of the sand dunes. The campground offers a peaceful atmosphere, ample tree cover, and easy access to hiking trails. However, some sites are small and not fully accessible for individuals with mobility challenges, and issues with noise from other campers have been noted. Overall, it is a memorable camping experience with great amenities.

this site has a terrible approach to the picnic area. it would be untenable for older folks or for small children. there are no steps, only a large uneven rock to drop down approximately 2.5 feet. the other two entry ways are not accessible because they are the locations of the camper. one side has a rock wall that may be intended to approach the picnic area, but that is also unsafe and resulted in one of our children slipping and falling, resulting in a gnarly scratch on his knee and bruise on his chest. this entry makes it very hard to efficiently or safely bring things down to the picnic area/bear box as heavy things need to be given to someone already down by the person above. we found it frustrating and nerve wracking. i would not recommend this site to folks with mobility struggles or small children. otherwise it is GREAT! so much shade and a beautiful view.

Loved the campground. Great views and some shade. Bath house could use a bit more light (loop 2 upper side).

Only established campground within the park. Clean bathrooms, portable water. Camp store on site accepts electronic pay. Some sites are bigger than others. Read descriptions of individual sites carefully.

Great spot. Really close to dunes, beautiful views. Very clean bathrooms. Deer walking thru campsite. Some good tree coverage around area.
Some tips, the closest store is quite far and obviously campsite “store” is pricey but well stocked.
Dont need 4wd or awd to get there easily
Loads of flies so prepare accordingly

The Sand Dunes are always beautiful. However, the campground attendants did not clean the campsite or bear locker before we checked in. There were candy wrappers around the tent area and bags of garbage and bags of beer cans piled and spilled inside the bear locker.

Beautiful views of the dunes - little walk to the restroom but worth it for a bit more space
