What Guests Are Saying
Pinon Flats Campground is well-regarded for its friendly camp host, Nancy, and beautifully maintained facilities, including clean restrooms and stunning views of the sand dunes. The campground offers a peaceful atmosphere, ample tree cover, and easy access to hiking trails. However, some sites are small and not fully accessible for individuals with mobility challenges, and issues with noise from other campers have been noted. Overall, it is a memorable camping experience with great amenities.

This campground is excellent. Close to the dunes, plenty of bathrooms, a camp store for ice and firewood. I’ll definitely be back!

We loved our stay at Piñon Flats Campground while exploring the Great Sand Dunes. The campground’s bathrooms were VERY clean, they had nice paved roads and the camp sites were clean and provided ample space between sites. We’re looking forward to our next trip back to the Dunes!

Superb site location. We had a great view overlooking the Dunes & mountains. Best bathrooms! They were super clean & smelled nice. Kudos to the gentleman tending to the grounds & bathrooms he was very friendly & helpful w/ my questions. Couldn’t find anywhere to buy firewood, the camp “hosts” were not available & the camp store was not open. No big deal though because we didn’t need a fire. But would recommend trying to buy some in town before you drive in if you need it. Stayed in mid May & bugs were not a problem. Medano creek was flowing pretty good & had a great time!
