What Guests Are Saying
Pinon Flats Campground is well-regarded for its friendly camp host, Nancy, and beautifully maintained facilities, including clean restrooms and stunning views of the sand dunes. The campground offers a peaceful atmosphere, ample tree cover, and easy access to hiking trails. However, some sites are small and not fully accessible for individuals with mobility challenges, and issues with noise from other campers have been noted. Overall, it is a memorable camping experience with great amenities.

Spent a couple nights here at this quaint campground nestled against the hills in Great Sand Dunes NP. Our site was an easy walk to the dunes and a beautiful view of the night sky. The entire campground is reservation only and they book up quickly, so get your site squared away before peak season. Also know that while the sites are spaced reasonably enough apart, the campground itself is not particularly roomy, so avoid if you have a larger motorhome or 5th wheel. Lastly, we stayed in early April and the dump station was not yet open, so be aware if you come early in the season. Otherwise, the early season can be fantastic for spending time in the dunes before they get hot!

It was delightful. Next time, I'd reserve at least 2 nights to really enjoy the area.

Really beautiful campground. View of the dunes, easy parking, close bathrooms that were clean and had lights. Had a lovely time here.

Enjoyed the silence on our site (might be different, when it's fully booked. Had quite windy conditions. Be prepared to (be able to) fix your tent well. Watch: no soap in restroom!

The Camp Ground (CG) exceeded my expectations.
The sites were clean and well maintained.
The bathrooms were outstanding, clean and recently (2022) refurbished. The cleaning service did an outstanding job cleaning them and keeping them maintained.
The entire system (Infrastructure) was recently renewed. The roads and each camp site was repaved! It was like NEW!!!
This is a highly desirable NP, my advise for anyone wanting to secure a site at this NP would be to do so early!!
The staff was knowledgeable and very courteous!! All so professional!!!
I'll be back!
