What Guests Are Saying
Pinon Flats Campground is well-regarded for its friendly camp host, Nancy, and beautifully maintained facilities, including clean restrooms and stunning views of the sand dunes. The campground offers a peaceful atmosphere, ample tree cover, and easy access to hiking trails. However, some sites are small and not fully accessible for individuals with mobility challenges, and issues with noise from other campers have been noted. Overall, it is a memorable camping experience with great amenities.

We enjoyed our stay. Our site had some shade which was pleasant. Of course, camping in the park was extremely convenient to the Dunes! 😊

Very clean campground. Parking at some sites were tight, so most campers were smaller trailers or tent campers. Dunes were fun to hike, but the Mosca pass was really nice. A longer hike, but a nice trail. Be sure to bring water.

I’ve been camping 🏕️ at the Dunes for more than 60 years. It’s a special place! The newly paved roads and beautiful remodeled visitor center were pleasant surprises.

The campfire smoke from so many campsites required us to close all the windows in our camper. We both have respiratory issues and smoke at high elevations is very challenging for us to breathe. Given the high potential for wildfires starting from campfires, I would suggest that the park service ban all campfires.

Very nice and well taken care of campground. We could only stay one of the two nights that we reserved because it was too cold for the younger kids, but I have told everyone that is the place to go to enjoy the dunes and the area! Will definitely be back!

Great experience and wonderful adventure. We were fortunate enough to be there for great weather and no moon, which really brought the stars.

Beautiful campground-sites were as advertised. Grounds and bathrooms were clean and well kept. Loved the trail access direct from campsite to the dunes.

It has been updated in the last several years, very nice but the spaces seem to be a little small.
