The worst camp site I have been to! The host are horrible at managing, our camp site had unpaid guest there that left stuff. Check out was at 12pm and check in at 2 pm. The camp hosts didn’t come clean up and take all the left gear from the no paying guest until 2:00pm. The non paying guest came back the next day accusing us of taking their stuff. Horrible experience and very scary so we left 2 day prior to our original check out day.

We love the Heaton Bay itself. Sites are nice, love the fire pits, good access to the water and bathrooms are clean.
What can be difficult is that not all campers are considerate of their neighbors. A very loud generator with a very long cord was placed as far from their camper as possible and just outside the edge of our site so we got to listen to it and smell the fumes. Maybe along with the time rule for generators a rule for placement close to their camper can be added. Also when dogs are left in campers while they go out at night the dogs bark non stop!

Outside temperature can drop to 38 degree Fahrenheit at 3 AM in mid-June. Manage water line and container air pressure due to higher than normal altitude (10K Feet). Site is paved and on a slope. Short walk to vaulted toilet and next site is camp host. Within 10 minute drive to Wells Fargo ATM, Walmart, Gas Station and Whole Foods Market. One large dumpster located at entrance / exit of park. Visible walking trail located behind site.

Beautiful campsite that accommodated 2 tents with plenty of room. The shade from the trees was nice for both us and the dogs during the hot afternoon. Right on the water and felt secluded even though we knew other groups were camping around us.
