Heaton Bay

We loved this campground. The D loop was very quiet. Clean pit toilets. Our site at D45 was a little higher than others and offered great views and privacy. Looking forward to coming back on a summer where the reservoir is more full and we can actually access the water from the campground.

Nice campground located close to Frisco and Dillon. Too bad this year that with the drought, the reservoir level is way down and most of the sites now that were close to the water are now hundreds of yards away. Hopefully the mountains will get a lot of snow this winter. Our site was very nice in the 'B' loop. The only small issue I can think of, is the locks in the bathroom next to us did not work but you just had to knock before entering and hopefully a person coming when you were using it knocked as well. Probably too hard to fix????

Loop C at Heaton Bay is the only loop with electric and water hook-ups. Well maintained campground, clean pit toilets, and the hosts make several loops without seaming like they're intruding. The downside is that you can hear the highway noise from I-70 and the Damm Road.

The reservoir is low due to the drought, nothing to do with maintenance. Makes for difficult canoe and kayak launching. Clean, friendly camground hosts, beautiful scenery, bike trails. lovely,

A favorite campground right on the Bike Path. Big negative is lack of a dump station and you must drive around the lake, through Frisco, and out to the water department on Hiwayb 9 to dump. A,lso the dry sites have no water source that you can connect a hose to fill a fresh water tank,, yuou must fill containers first

Campground needs more exit signs and main entrance sign is to far in from highway. Missed it twice while looking for the campground.

Heaton Bay is one of my favorite campsites! Easy to get to, lots of trees between campsites and bike trails are right outside your trailer!

Even with the low water in the reservoir, the park is still one of our favorite places to visit. We love the bike trails that can be picked up inside the park. There are not many sites with water and electricity but we were lucky enough to get one this time.

Location was great, close to town. We were in B loop right across from one of the bathrooms, and both sides were well kept, but one side had a lock that was not working, so kind of embarrassing if someone opened the door when doing a "sit-down"..........Not sure if I'll get to share this on another upcoming text box on this survey, but I fault Recreation.gov for not being able to cancel or forfeit my reservation early. I had 2 days left on my reservation and we had to leave, and I got on the app to cancel those days, but there was no place to do it. I feel bad that other campers could have used our spot those two days, but I could not notify anyone. I did not want to call and be on hold just to do that!!!! Please update your app so that can be done.

Very clean campsites, easy access to the bike trails and pretty quiet even though it’s close to the highway. We couldn’t do the complete bike loop because of construction up top but that was no problem.
