We have bee going to this campground for many years. We especially like being close to Dillon for the Friday Farmers Market and close to Frisco for the restaurants. We like having several hiking trails, especially the one up to Old Dillon Lake. My husband likes that the roads thru the campground are paved - he does not like having his truck get dusty! Seriously, it's a beautiful place but does not have the quality of camp hosts like the ones in the past. Also, driving up I 70 is getting to be a nightmare with all of the construction.

Access to bike trails can't be beat. Always love the hiking in the area as well. We also took advantage of summer activities (parks, music concerts, artistic murals) in Dillon, Silverthorne, and Frisco. The only drawbacks were the hotter than normal weather and low water level in the reservoir this year. The campground was in great shape and well-maintained.

Loop C, the electric loop is wonderful. Almost all of the sites are level and it seems newer, as the concrete is good and the sites are just nicer than the rest of the campground. Site #43 is very sloped. Sites 32 and 33 are right next to the campground entrance road. It was very quiet and peaceful other than the road noise from Dillon Dam Road and the Freeway. The cars can be heard throughout the entire campground, maybe a bit less in the lower sites loop E. Site #43 is very sloped. Sites 32 and 33 are right next to the campground entrance road. There is a path between #33 and 35 going to the paved bike path, which is wonderful. Most of the sites in loop C are fairly sunny most of the day. Loop A does not have a bathroom.

We didn't have hookups, but it works for three days. The site was long enough for the RV and Jeep, and it was level.

Getting There
From I-70, take Frisco exit to 203. Turn left onto the Dillon Dam Road.
Travel northeast for 1 mi. The campground will be on the right hand side
of the road.

Heaton Bay is accessible via I-70, with the Frisco exit leading to Dillon Dam Road, which is approximately 1 mile from the interstate.
