This is the 3rd year I've stayed at Heaton Bay. The campsite is always clean and ready. I spend a few days tent camping and hiking, and the location near Frisco is great for reaching many good hikes within 60 minutes. Also, Frisco has a really nice multi-building museum that i well worth the time.

Enjoyed our stay as always. The sad thing was the water level of the lake was too low to take our paddle boards out this summer. We usually stay here since we can put in from our campsite. But otherwise the campground was great, clean bathrooms, plenty of TP, quiet campers since it was mid-week. This is our bougie campground since it has paved roads - definitely cuts down on the dust.

Stayed at Heaton Bay C loop. Had one night reserved and Kenzie was able to find a second night on electric loop fir us. Outhouses were clean and did not smell.

I enjoyed my stay. I was in the campground with electric and water. Note that the information for the campground does not say that there is water, but there is. Being able to bike directly from the campground is huge and everything you need is close by. There was a bit of road noise but not a deal breaker for me.

Awesome site that was very private. Worth the 30 yard walk to have privacy. Tent pad was level, vault toilets were some of the cleanest I’ve experienced and site was beautiful

It is VERY sad and depressing to see how ignorantly that beautiful land has been totally abused. Too many bikers and bike trails. Little children flying around on bikes without even helmets on.
Absolutely no wildlife. To many E Bikes, etc that scare the wild life away.
I will not even talk about how horrible the management of water in the lake has been.

It’s a very busy area but most of the spots are at least semi-secluded in the trees. Bathrooms are clean and the camp spot is paved and mine was level. But if you want to camp and still be close to city stuff. It’s great

From I-70, take Frisco exit to 203. Turn left onto the Dillon Dam Road.
Travel northeast for 1 mi. The campground will be on the right hand side
of the road.

Heaton Bay is accessible via I-70, with the Frisco exit leading to Dillon Dam Road, which is approximately 1 mile from the interstate.
