Had a beautiful site on a small bay. Lots to do around here. Get a bike trail right from the camp ground.

Recommend bringing a screen shelter to keep the mosquitoes from attacking you. We have camped at Heaton Bay yearly for the past 15 years + and enjoy the various campsites around the lake. The camp hosts are very nice.

Site 69 is fairly private, having only one neighbor that looks directly at your picnic table and if you set your camp chairs close to the newly growing trees you can avoid eye contact. The parking area would fit a short trailer next to a tow vehicle, however we only had a van so the paved parking spot acted as a 'patio' and was level. There is a path down to the lake through your site so you may meet a few new people as they walk up from the lake not realizing they are walking up to your picnic table. The bathroom and trash cans are far enough away so as not to smell them - until the sewer pump truck comes to pump the vault toilet - lesson learned - take a walk when that truck comes round. Would be great if the Forest Service would clear the logs from the trail from the day use area to the campground around the points of the bay. Blue Herons and Osprey nest in the old trees on the point - it was amazing seeing their chicks in the nest through my zoom lens.
