About Prospector

At an elevation of 9,000 feet, Prospector Campground is in the heart of Summit County in the White River National Forest. The sites offer open views to Dillon Reservoir and several mountain ranges, an ideal setting for guests seeking recreation and relaxation. Due to the pine beetle infestation and removal of hazard trees, there is little or no shade in the campground.

Such a great experience. This was our maiden voyage with our camper. We were in campsite #91 and it was the perfect view of the mountains as loop E was settled a little higher than the others. The site and bathrooms were exceptionally clean. The camp hosts were great as well. We will definitely be back.

We love this campsite. This is our second time visiting and although the site says that there isn’t much tree coverage for shade, we feel like there is. We bring our 2 dogs and they love it! Whenever we feel like getting out to tent camp, this is our first option and recommend it for anyone looking to get some fresh air.

This is a great campground with some limited hiking. My wife and I love this as the quality of the campground is fantastic, it has views, and enough activity for us on a relaxing weekend. This can also be a base camp for those willing to drive short distances to other things.

First time in Prospector after many times in the Dillion area. I loved the campground and area. Spacious, clean, minimal lites for night sky viewing, and quiet. I will be back in the near future.

The cleanest restrooms I have yet to see! Spacious campsites with some trees/shades. A trail down to the lake for incredible views. Convenient location, great family campsite.

Great site with beautiful views. Location is perfect between Breck, Frisco, and Dillion. Definitely reserve ahead of time.

Please Note: One RV with tow per single site or one vehicle per tent site. Most sites can accommodate 1 extra vehicle that is not included with the reservation fee. Extra vehicle will be charged a per night fee and collected at the campground.

Body contact with reservoir prohibited; no swimming, water skiing, jetskiing, or scuba diving in the lake

Prevent the spread of invasive species by inspecting and cleaning packs, equipment, and tires before using lake or trails

Reserved Sites will be held until check out time (ELEVEN) the day following your arrival date. Sites must be occupied by the checkout time of that following day to hold a reservation or the site will be forfeited and released to other guests.Once your reservation start date has begun, neither the Recreation.gov Contact Center nor the campground manager will be able to modify your reservation.

Fire Restrictions: Fire restrictions may be imposed at any time due to hot, dry weather conditions, at which time campfires and charcoal fires may not be allowed.

Campers must occupy the site the first night at a campsite. This prevents booking the site for Fri-Sun and showing up on Saturday.

Campers may leave the site for 24 hours and must occupy the site otherwise. This allows a camper to say go for an overnight backpack trip in the woods for one night and come back to their campsite the next day.

Check in time is 2:00pm and Check out time is 11:00amIt is imperative that you are clear from the site at 11:00am on your check out day so the host can come prepare the site for the next event. Please don't be the group that makes the incoming group have to wait.
