We enjoy staying at Prospector Campground every year! The bathrooms are always so clean and very well maintained. The camp host was also so nice and accommodating. Great experience as always!

We love being at Prospector. It has easy access to all of the activities we like to do. One word of caution... THEY HAVE CHANGED THE VEHICLE DAY PASSES!! The vehicle pass for the campground is no longer valid at the day use areas around the lake. This is VERY disappointing. I do not see the need to buy multiple day passes for the different parking areas. Up until this year, the pass worked for all areas making it simple to hop around and enjoy the different areas and activities around the lake. If I have to buy a pass for each parking area, then I may have to start looking elsewhere. Other than that, we really love the area!

Only complaint was that someone left their generator on and unattended all night our first night. And it seems like people drive twice the posted speed limit. Other than that, great campground and staff.

Clean space. Nearest vault toilet to my site was immaculate, like, could have slept on the floor it was so clean. Was there 4 days and it was always clean. Access was easy though the sign for loop C is hidden behind trees so it took awhile to find my spot. Fire ring with grill. No bear box.
There was no running water onsite at the time though, and having the picnic bench anchored to the ground means you're at the mercy of whatever trees your site has.

The campground was as expected. Nice spacious sites, clean bathrooms, respectful quiet guests. I did not realize the lake access was so rough and challenging. It required a hike down a steep rocky trail with erosion and this proved challenging while carrying a stand up paddle board via backpack. Sneakers were definitely recommended rather than flip flops. The beach area is all rocks, no sand. Compared to the nice lake access at other area campgrounds, I would not recommend Prospector if youβre looking for lake activities.

The weekends were booked for the entire year. I was able to stay during the week but had to leave on the weekend. The USFS should designate some spaces as weekly, Sunday through Saturday, not daily, to give us a better chance of staying longer.

Campers must occupy the site the first night at a campsite. This prevents booking the site for Fri-Sun and showing up on Saturday. |

Campers may leave the site for 24 hours and must occupy the site otherwise. This allows a camper to say go for an overnight backpack trip in the woods for one night and come back to their campsite the next day. |
