Canning Creek is the nicest campground we have camped at ,we have been coming there for 6 or more year's, and always enjoy it so much.

Very nice. Pretty lake. Historic area as many wagon trains started from Council Grove heading west. Close to the Flint Hills Scenic Byway with its Tallgrass Prairie National Preserve and Pioneer Bluffs. Great site for RVs - level slabs with hookups. For tent camping, not all sites had level tent pads. Visit again? You betcha!

Upon arriving to the park we noticed many open spots and had the ability to change camp sites with ease on the app.

Our church camping group reserved 6 sites in a row and had a marvelous time. Plenty of shade, right next to the water at Canning Creek. Using sites 5-10 allowed us to have a nice oval roadway to walk for exercise. The City of Council Grove is just down the road. A tour destination with quite a history is a restaurant called the Hays House which has excellent food.

It is frustrating that only 2 nights can be booked and it’s not fair that someone can take the spot after that so you risk having to pull in or move.
