We had a lot of fun, it wasnβt too far of a walk to the Oceanside campsite. The bugs werenβt too terrible except for like in the marshy sections. Didnβt have any issues with the ponies being nosey or anything.

Was a wonderful place to camp. We had horses grazing through the campground. Very short walk to a beautiful clean beach. Be prepared there is no light at all in or near vault toilet. Bonus - no bugs! (Mid Sept) Ocean Loop 2; site #34 Need a hot shower you can pay at State campground that you pass on the way in.

The campgrounds were spacious and clean. We had no problem finding a place to stay with a one weeks in advance reservation. We booked the last week in September and found it to be cool in the evenings and warm during the day. It was also very quiet at night. The ponies were wonderful to see and the rangers were very knowledgeable. The beach was beautifulβ¦and we were very happy that dogs were allowed in the campground and beaches.

We camped at spot 15 on loop 1 in mid September and it was the perfect location. Breezy, no bugs. Close to the beach, but far enough from other campers. The only problem some people might encounter is from the parking spot, to the camp area there is a little bit of a hill. So if you have mobility issues, I wouldn't suggest it.

A beautiful spot on a dune! Great sunrise & sunset views. We didn't have any pest issues (no issues with bugs & the horses kept to themselves) at the time we went.
Not the easiest walk to the parking area on sand and around other campers, but well worth the effort. There are outdoor showers (with a lever on/off that you have to hold to use) and there isn't running water at the toilets.

Well kept sites, trails, and beach. Five Tides had great food, staff very pleasant as well as the camp hosts. Beautiful place and horses are a plus - although a bit messy.
