What Guests Are Saying
Bay Furnace Campground is praised for its clean, spacious sites and quiet atmosphere, with easy access to Lake Superior and nearby attractions like Pictured Rocks. Reviewers appreciate the well-maintained restrooms and the beauty of the surrounding area, making it a great spot for outdoor activities. However, many noted the access road's severe potholes as a significant downside, which detracts from the overall experience.

Great campground. We stayed at a lake front spot and it was super clean and close to the beach area. Awesome that they have a dump and water station.

Site 13 exceeded our expectations! So private. Surrounded by beautiful tall pines - and distanced from all neighbors. Just lovely. A path led from the camper to an earthen terrace right on the edge of a lovely Lake Superior bay. We sat our chairs there, did some reading, and had our morning coffee right there by the water. Enjoyed walking over to see the partially restored pig iron furnace and reading the history. We hope to come back and would love to stay at this site for several days. Thanks for such a nice respite!

Awesome campground. The sites were placed with plenty of space around each one to give a bit of privacy. We stayed in site 6 with a view of the lake across the street. We only stayed one night and wished we had more nights.

Liked your pit toilets; continue to keep them in good shape. A waste container at the dump station would be helpful. Great location being close to Munising.

Our site (37) was very close to the main road and the sounds of big diesel trucks woke our kids up before 7 am every morning. Also our site was right next to the vault toilet restrooms and we could smell it from our site at times.

Bay Furnace is a beautiful campground and we really enjoyed our time there, much more than Camp Seven Lake last summer. Our camp hosts Jill and Darrin were super friendly and helpful. We enjoyed Jill’s company very much as we crossed paths with her several times. The bathrooms were kept clean. The campsites were tidy. The scenery is breathtaking and the other campers were all friendly and respectful. We had our two teenage sons with us and two of their friends and they all thoroughly enjoyed the beach and how clean and clear the water was. We will definitely be back next year!

Though I prefer a more isolated location in which to camp, Bay Furnace was an excellent choice for this trip's purpose with the grandsons. Despite its proximity to a busy highway, it was surprisingly quiet. We have visited Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore area for fifty years. Since it became a National Lakeshore, the amount of human traffic has grown exponentially. We were very lucky to find a campsite this year. Bay Furnace is well situated for the exploration of the park. It is well maintained, and the sites are well maintained.
