What Guests Are Saying
Bay Furnace Campground is praised for its clean, spacious sites and quiet atmosphere, with easy access to Lake Superior and nearby attractions like Pictured Rocks. Reviewers appreciate the well-maintained restrooms and the beauty of the surrounding area, making it a great spot for outdoor activities. However, many noted the access road's severe potholes as a significant downside, which detracts from the overall experience.

It is a very nice primitive campground. The sites are very private. When we arrived, we were able to change sites to be closer to our friends. Unfortunately, the money we paid to recreation.gov could not be applied to the new site, so we had to pay the full $20/day fee again.

this was my first time at bay view, and my first time camping! we had the most beautiful campsite and i couldn't have hoped for better. people kept coming over to tell us how lucky we were! 10 backs up right into lake superior with gorgeous views and a few steps down a sandhill get you "private" access to the beach. the water is cold but so refreshing, take a dip! campgrounds were clean and sites were spacious, neighbors friendly, and the hosts were warm and helpful. fresh water available at a few spigots, latrines stocked with TP (no soap/sanitizer, BYO). dry firewood for purchase (and starters!) was aplenty. close to a town with various shops for emergencies, many trails and outfitters for adventures. i did not have any trouble with noise at night aside from the gusty wind. even though it rained the whole time and was chilly, we had a wonderful stay, and we can't wait to be back for more camping!
