What Guests Are Saying
Bay View Campground offers a beautiful and rustic camping experience along Lake Superior, featuring large, private sites under mature trees and clean facilities. Many guests appreciate the excellent cleanliness maintained by the camp hosts and the stunning beach access. However, some concerns were noted regarding the presence of generators, the need for a camp host for better quiet time enforcement, and issues with trash management. Overall, the campground remains a favored destination for its natural beauty and welcoming atmosphere.

The new hosts were fantastic. A bad host can ruin your stay. These folks were very good, friendly but not invasive. The campground was clean and well kept.

Outstanding upkeep. Road noise the only problem.

I've wanted to explore the area & this campground for some time. The camp manager & his wife take excellent care of the grounds, bathrooms & individual sites. He was there to welcome me & brought firewood down to my site. Nothing can beat being directly on the water with your own private beach & although the skies were hazy due to wildfire smoke, damping any astrophotography (this trip), I enjoyed my stay & will be back!

The site was beautiful and incredibly serene. We loved that the campground is dog friendly, and we plan on bringing our pups next time. The beach is just gorgeous and rivals some of the beaches I have visited in Hawaii. It's hard to believe that it is just a lake! We could see both sunset and sunrise on the same beach, which is unusual! Some things to note: I would have liked, when making the reservation, to have been able to see if this site was one of the campsites right on the beach. That's what we had expected (and wanted), but found out that we had actually reserved a space on the other side of the camp loop road. Still, it was a very short walk to the beach. Also, be aware that it is very rustic--the bathroom does not have running water and there is no light, so be prepared with hand sanitizer, wipes, and flashlights. Still, the bathroom was kept very clean. The camping pads (for tents) were relatively flat and not too bumpy or rocky. It made setting up tents very easy. There is a water pump at the campground to collect water for doing dishes, etc. The camp hosts are friendly and are great at maintaining the campground. I also appreciate that there is a place to dispose trash and a recycling bin at the campground. I highly recommend this site to get away from it all and to experience some peace and beauty for a few days. We hope to stay two nights next time!

This was my second time here. The bay is pretty calm compared to other parts of Lake Superior. The sunsets are always great.
Traffic on the road can be fairly loud due to the narrow space for road side camp sites. The lakeside sites are much larger. Ample firewood on the premises. The camp hosts were great, bathrooms clean, and sites were raked and tidy. One of my favorite campgrounds in the UP.

Campground was well cared for, and hosts were friendly and thoughtful. A true gem of a campground in the national forest system.

Meticulously maintained. Made a great choice to replace a host that wasn’t working out, and the new couple are great.
