What Guests Are Saying
Avalanche Campground is highly praised for its beautiful, quiet setting and proximity to popular hiking trails like Avalanche Lake and the Trail of the Cedars. The campground is well-maintained, with clean facilities and attentive camp hosts, making it a great base for exploring Glacier National Park. While some campers noted issues with privacy and the lack of showers and lights in the bathrooms, the overall experience is considered excellent by many visitors.

Site was so small our tent didn’t fit. I tried to cancel and open up the site for someone else but your site wouldn’t let me since it was after the start of the reservation.
Pathetic.

This campground is in a beautiful forest. This site is a nice size and close to a path for a brand new bathroom. There is water and a bear box in front of this sight so you get some people coming by to use that, but it is also really handy in my opinion. We didn't mind.

This is a beautiful campground in the forest, right next to the Trail of Cedars. This specific sight is very, very small though. This is the case with about 1/3 of the sites at Avalanche campground. The driveways are U shaped and some of those are all pretty small. This site has a square spot for your tent but it is TINY! and outside of that the site is full with just the fire ring and the picnic table. If you are in a camper this site would work better but a lot of the spots at Avalanche are just hard to tent camp on altogether.

The campground is beautiful. Friendly hosts.
In some ways I wish it was just open to tent campers as our noisiest neighbours were always those that had trailers or fixed up van/trucks with A/C units. TP is provided in the bathrooms but not soap so make sure to bring your own!

Rangers were very helpful upon check in and enjoyed our chat with Ranger Nancy. The Campsite was clean and level for two tents. The canopy was appreciated to provide shaded areas. Additionally, we appreciated the ability to have a parking space so we could just walk the Trail of the Cedars and then adventure up to Avalanche Lake easily. We also took advantage of going to the Picnic area and sitting in camp chairs next to the Creek and enjoyed the sights and sounds of the Park.

Nice quiet campground with good sized spots and ample space between. The Avalanche campground also has great access to several trails without needing to drive and compete for a parking space. We will definitely be looking to return to this campground the next time we visit Glacier National park.

Wonderful campsite, by far the biggest one we stayed at in Glacier (compared to Many Glacier, St Mary, and backcountry). The host was very nice and the area was soothing and quiet. Walking distance to the Avalanche Lake trail, which was amazing.
