What Guests Are Saying
Sprague Creek Campground is a charming and clean site with excellent access to Lake McDonald, making it ideal for tent campers and smaller vehicles. Visitors appreciate the friendly camp host, beautiful lake views, and quiet atmosphere, particularly in the evenings. However, some sites are small and close together, resulting in limited privacy, and road noise can be an issue, especially for those near the main road.

Our spot was beautiful. My only complaint was there was no soap or hand sanitizer in the bathroom.

The campsites are spaced very close to each other and with the roadworks currently happening there is a constant amount of traffic, noise pollution and dust.

Small campground with tight parking spots. As of June, 2023 all the heavy machinery doing Going-to-the-sun road stages directly outside the campground and workers fire up those beasts first thing so be ready for a loud and disruptive awakening. Snagged a reservation using the four day out window and the site we got (#11) was right next to the bathroom with the light shining. Some deer clearly habituated to people (and probably snacks) cruised by very close to us. The host was lovely and lake accessible just steps away. Overall the views are amazing but won’t do this stretch of road again until the road is improved between Apgar and Sprague. Better to drive around and enter the park on the east side for more camping.

Sprague Creek is a very well located campground. Our site was right along the beautiful Lake McDonald and on the Going-to-the-Sun Road. This campsite was easy to find and very relaxing. I highly recommend Sprague Creek!

The construction on the road getting in was crummy, but the campground itself was beautiful. Love that you can walk down to the water and catch the sunset over the lake. We originally had two campsites reserved, 12 & 13, but 13 & 15 would’ve been better because the fire pit of 13 & picnic table of 15 were closer together. So, if you’re looking for two sites together, they would be a great pair.

This was our family’s favorite campsite in Glacier. There is a little walking path directly to Lake McDonald and it’s beautiful! We did have a little black bear walk through our site while we weren’t there, so just make sure everything is cleaned up.

Our spot was subpar compared to all the other spots we've stayed at in the campgrounds at GNP. The parking spot was barely big enough for our Silverado, it said two tents allowed but our spot had only a tent area big enough for one so our friend had to sleep on the edge of our parking spot, other spots were MUCH larger and never occupied while we camped although they said reserved. Our spot was so close to the road we heard every car go by all night. The only upside was it has a shuttle pick up right other the other side of going to the sun road, and some spots are directly next to Lake McDonald with easy access for swimming. We also liked being closer to the lodge and a faster route to the other side of the park than other West Glacier campgrounds but I don't think we will be back to this campground unfortunately.

Amazing sites at this campground on Lake Mcdonald. Was lucky to get a last minute spot. Site 5 was absolutely beautiful with a direct path down to the water.
