What Guests Are Saying
Sprague Creek Campground is a charming and clean site with excellent access to Lake McDonald, making it ideal for tent campers and smaller vehicles. Visitors appreciate the friendly camp host, beautiful lake views, and quiet atmosphere, particularly in the evenings. However, some sites are small and close together, resulting in limited privacy, and road noise can be an issue, especially for those near the main road.

It was a lovely campground, but all was not great.
Our site (#8) had a nice view of Lake McDonald and some cell service.
The campsite was small but well laid out to provide privacy.
The bathrooms were clean, but older,
We really enjoyed it and would go their again.
These are the things we didn’t like:
1. There was 11 miles of road construction (11 miles of gravel roads) just outside our campground. This created a lot of noise, a lot of dust, and made it difficult to travel without delays along the Going to the Sun Road.
2. Early morning park enterers created a lot of noise. The campsite is only 4 campsites deep and road noise is a factor. It is particularly noticeable in the early morning hours when about 100 cars pass by the campsite between 5:15 and 6:15. This noise is amplified with the gravel road just outside the campground and certainly woke me up early each morning.
3. The water spigot valves were difficult to use, especially when using one handed. They either came out too slow, or came out like a fire hose.
These are some of the challenges we had during the summer of 2023.
Don’t get me wrong we really did enjoy this campground.

Generally I really liked this campground. It's centrally located and right on a gorgeous lake, perfect for swimming. There is so physical office, so don't try to call the campground. Also, avoid site 14 - by far the worst site in the campground.

Campsites are very close to each other. Some have a view of the lake. It’s very close to the going to the sun road so you can hear the cats driving. Hosts are very friendly.

This campground was a good location so that it included access to Going to the Sun Road without need for separate reservation. It also had a great location on Lake MacDonald for great sunsets and direct access for paddleboarding. However, it had a lot of road noise being right off the road and a lot of dust from the current road construction.

Nice, small, well maintained campground. You do get lots of road noise, but it’s also a great place to roll out of bed and start your day exploring the park! I came very late and a couple had tried to set up in my reserved camp site. Thankfully after not too much of a hassle they moved along and I was able to use my site. A large animal did pass through in the middle of the night, so do remember to store all you items safely.

Very pretty and private feeling campsite. My family loved being able to access the creek and listen to it all night while camping. The pit toilets were clean and the whole vibe of the campsite was lovely. Looking forward to visiting again!

Stayed 2 nights, and loved the location of this campsite. The site is beautiful and directly on the beach with multiple paths leading to the shore. 10/10 in that regard. We were in one of the sites backing onto the road, not the lake, and although still very private, it was quite noisy from the cars. The road is under construction and the gravel is very loud, so we struggled to sleep well at night, although both of us are light sleepers.
If you can get a site on the lake side, definitely go for it - it's stunning. But the other side I would probably avoid unless you are a heavy sleeper - at least till the road is finished.

Everything was great, ranger was friendly, but no grill on the fire ring was bogus. Site 16 has its own nice path to the water though.
