What Guests Are Saying
Gallo Campground offers a beautiful and well-maintained camping experience in Chaco Canyon, with stunning views, amazing night skies, and friendly campground hosts who provide valuable information and assistance. The campground is clean and organized, featuring level sites and access to hiking trails and ancient ruins. However, visitors should be aware of the rough access roads, limited privacy between campsites, and occasional issues with water and restroom facilities.

The campground is quiet and well laid out. The restroom was clean and heated. The information boards were up to date and the check-in process was smooth.

Simple, straightforward campground. No cellular service, but that might be considered a bonus by some! Great star gazing, ample bird life. Limited nearby trails allow some hiking without driving. Studying the various ruins brings a sense of wonder, to say the least.

Wonderful, beautiful place. Maybe due to the location’s spiritual roots or maybe because of the long bumpy drive in, Gallo is one of the most peaceful and quiet campground we’ve camped in. I only wish we’d heeded the sign about the southern route out. It had rained for a few days when we were camping and we did slide off the road on the way out.

We recently enjoyed a three night stay at Gallo campground, and like all campgrounds, there is always the possibility that someone may run a generator for hours each night and/or have large fires burning. We value Chaco canyon for its utter silence and dark skies at night. The bathroom at the campground was clean and even warm, which was welcome to us since the nights were cold. Overall, we had a wonderful visit.

The Gallo campground was very nice. We arrived late and someone had a RV parked in our campsite. He conveniently felt that he had paid for a site and so chose ours because we hadn't arrived until later. He refused to leave. We ended up making the best of it and set up next to him. Perhaps the park could patrol this site and prevent this? Anyway, Chaco was stunning in the morning with a hot cup of coffee. Highly recommended.
