What Guests Are Saying
Gallo Campground offers a beautiful and well-maintained camping experience in Chaco Canyon, with stunning views, amazing night skies, and friendly campground hosts who provide valuable information and assistance. The campground is clean and organized, featuring level sites and access to hiking trails and ancient ruins. However, visitors should be aware of the rough access roads, limited privacy between campsites, and occasional issues with water and restroom facilities.

The portable outhouses were full. They need service much more often than they’re getting. They are a sanitation hazard.
The obvious solution is to restore water to the rest rooms. Guess the administrators have different priorities.

Gallo is a beautiful campground in the middle of Chaco Canyon. Unfortunately half of it is now closed due to falling rocks, so it becomes a little crowded sometimes. When we were there no water was available but we had been warned by mail and the recreation app so we came prepared with more than enough water. - The park staff was super friendly as always: during the day, while we were hiking, our tent was almost blown away by strong winds. A ranger fixed it with stones and our water canisters so no damage happened - THANK YOU!!! At the visitor center while we were waiting at the parking lot a ranger came out of the building to remind us about a ranger talk at Pueblo Bonito - how nice! Overall, an excellent experience. Want to come back soon!

Brought my wife out here to see the Chaco Canyon ruins and watch a lunar eclipse. We had a great time, and I highly recommend camping out here for the gorgeous night skies!
Pros:
- Open year-round
- Campground is very easy to access by car; signage is clear
- Campsites were well maintained and free of trash
- Sunset views are amazing
Cons:
- Vault toilets were out of commission; port-a-johns were FULL

Flat sites, GREAT hosts, Porta-potties as no water. Great Sunsets and views.
We appreciated the short and enforced limits on generators!
