What Guests Are Saying
Black Canyon Campground is praised for its cleanliness, well-maintained facilities, and beautiful surroundings, making it a favored spot for campers. The spacious sites, friendly camp hosts, and proximity to hiking trails and Santa Fe enhance the overall experience. However, the lack of water has been a consistent issue, and some visitors have reported problems with caterpillar infestations and site accessibility.

A beautiful campground with lovely sites. So happy to have discovered this gem so close in Santa Fe. A terrific experience (except for one barking dog that was not stopped, which shattered the late morning peace & quiet). Also, the restroom smelled really bad so I was very glad I didn't need it due to my completely self-contained camping style.

Nice, quiet, campground. Very shady - had to move solar panels some - not really a problem. Close to Santa Fe. Has what may be the last pay phone in the US. I had to try it!

Love Black Canyon. Hope water is fixed in 2020 as there was none in 2019. The lack of water is a deterrent for many campers. This could be solved by having buffalo tanks as some other campgrounds provide.Hosts did not maintain campsites as in previous years and restrooms were not cleaned daily.we camp @ Black Canyon
routinely throughout summer and have for past five years. However the last host in 2019 was not a friendly person and was a very aggressive individual. We heard this complaint from many of the other campers as well. We do have multiple reservations again this year and look forward to great camping as in the past. Finally, It is our hope that the state and the forest service will continue to work on having the "electricity" and water situation corrected in the near future.

Stayed here several days in the fall. Camp “host” was extremely short and rude. No firewood for sale as advertised, and extremely standoffish and unfit for public service. Holed himself up in his RV most daylight hours and each evening well before dark, and posted a sign on the door with the curtains drawn in large block letters, “OFF DUTY, DO NOT KNOCK.” Otherwise, nice campground with good facilities and quiet atmosphere a very short drive out of Santa Fe.

Peaceful and beautiful. Can’t wait to visit again. Tip: make sure your tanks are filled with water before entering!

The campground was fantastic. It was well maintained by the hosts and was always clean. Spots were level and large.
