We had a very nice visit at Uwharrie NF.... most of the time it was very quiet, esp. after the site next to us emptied, taking their barking dog with them. But just a nice campground, nice sites, great pathway to bike and walk on and like I said, quiet!

Near to Reed Gold Mine State Historic Site - Town Creek Indian Mound Historic Site - Pisgah Covered Bridge - NC Zoological Park.
Campsites are excellent. Bathrooms and showers are excellent.
The only downside is that there is about a mile of unpaved red clay - gravel road to get to the campground. In wet weather your camper will get very nasty. I had to scrub mine down with a pole brush and RV wash the day I got back home.
Other than that - GREAT !

Freshwater tanks need to be filled. Great hiking trails on a beautiful lake. Numerous historical sites close by.

We had a wonderful time at this campground. It was one of the best campgrounds we have been to. A lot of sites are paved and pretty level. Site 40 was a pull through backed to the paved trail. Great campground for bike riding. The bathroom/showers were very close. Short walk to the lake. No cell service (T-Mobile), but it was nice to unplug for the weekend.

I had an excellent time. The only down side is the last mile of getting to the campground. It is not paved and of course every time I go there it has to rain and I get my rv all muddy because of that short distance. If you could do anything please pave the road leading up to it.

Very nice campsite, clean bathrooms, courteous staff. Would have rated 5 stars except there was no firewood to purchase (so no campfires) and no bench in each women's shower area for convenience and safety. Also one bathroom shower nozzle sprayed so far the water went under the door into the common area.
