This hidden gem is an amazing kayakers dream. The new campsite configuration is wonderful. The camp hosts were so wonderful and remembered us from our previous years. The close proximity to the Siltcoos canoe trail was wonderful.

The campground hosts were very supportive. We hadn't made a reservation ahead of time and they allowed us to use their wifi. It took 30-40 minutes to make the reservation online using my phone. The system scrolled for 10 minutes at a time and I rebooted three times. If reservations can only be made online, the campground should have wifi available, though that's one of the reasons people go camping, to escape wifi and computer systems.
We are extremely unhappy with the recreation.gov system. We miss the old system where you can see what's available and what's been reserved before you choose your campsite. Recreation.gov takes the spontaneity out of road trips
We had looked forward to kayaking Tahkenitch Lake, but in the morning we just wanted to find our next camping spot before they were all taken. Hopefully some day we'll be back to kayak Tahkenitch.

It was close enough to the road to be a little loud. The proximity to the lake was amazing which is what we were there for. The grounds and facilities were maintained brilliantly

There is a 14-day in 30 rolling days camping limit on the Siuslaw National Forest. The 14 days does not have to be consecutive. The 14-day limit covers the entire Siuslaw National Forest and not just this campground as shown in the Rules Section. This campground is located in close proximity to multiple lakes and wetlands. Due to this, there can be an abundance of mosquitoes between the months of April and August. Please be prepared for this. |
